@guest #12: Glad you brought that one up! The link above "36 houses and apartment buildings" lists it as demolished. I thought that was incorrect. In fact I remember reading somewhere it was being restored. It’s Case Study House #20 (there are two #20’s, the Neutra and this one) designed by Buff Straub & Hensman and built in 1958. The client was celebrated graphic designer Saul Bass and his wife Ruth.

Actually, it didn’t start life as the Thompson Mosley House. It started life as the Thompson House by Buff, Straub & Hensman. After a seccession of owners, it was purchased by the Mosleys in the 1980’s. They then hired Buff & Hensman to restore the house and do some updating.
Although, generally speaking this is a sensitive renovation, I don’t think the interior design will age well. The previous color scheme was more harmonious with the surroundings and also the fireplace brick. And why did they paint the wood ceiling? Natural woods are one of the hallmarks of a B&H house.
I probably shouldn’t nit-pick, but… the firm’s name was Buff, Straub, and Hensman from its founding in 1956 until Calvin Straub left the firm in 1961. The partnership continued under the name Buff, Hensman and Associates until Conrad Buff’s death in 1989. That same year, when Dennis Smith joined the firm, the partnership name was changed to Buff, Smith and Hensman. Although Donald Hensman retired in 1989, the firm continues today under Smith’s leadership with the latter name. The use of a ‘+’ instead of ‘and’ seems inappropriate… please stop!

Yeah Yeah – BandH is Buff and Hensman. Pleasant Way was Buff Straub and Hensman (BSandH). The Pulliam, Zimmerman Matthews was next door – Closed in a package deal with the lot next door. Just under a million. Needed everything. The BandSH was around 1800sf. The Neighborhood is really heating up.
Also, just down the street was the Thompson House by Buff Straub and Hensman. There was a feeding frenzy on that one. All on Curbed. All By Crosby Doe Agent — John Jacob Matthes. (ME)
