Here are some hot takes on the Taix redevelopment plans
They seem to be doing ok (at least leading up to this pandemic) in a new building nearby. None of the old school pizzeria charm. And the original building is some trendy hipster pizzeria now (with interior totally gutted and remodeled.)

Well said. But it’s their business to roll the dice on… not sure what alternative outcome anyone is expecting here? If the Taix closed and another restaurant came in, they’d probably gut the interior and all that nostalgia would be gone all the same.
Just look at what happened to Pizza Buona up the street
What L.A. could do with its $1.8 billion police budget
This movie is a classic!
Leftist globalists with no ideology, but with a ravenous desire for Power, cry loudly for the reduction or elimination of the Police in liberal urban cities under the guise of "fairness" and "dignity for Blacks". Milquetoast politicians on the Left readily agree as short-term polls suggest a boost to their popularity by agreeing to cut funding.
Predictably, crime surges and chaos reigns – especially in Black neighborhoods – and the same milquetoast politicians go on TV and exclaim that these problems were all caused at the Federal level. Talking heads with fake glasses on CNN, MSNBC, et al produce fake tears as they ask "How can those on the Right allow these atrocities to occur in modern society!"
In all the urban cities, protest marches begin filled with the same criminals who caused havoc when the Police disappeared. They walk hand-in-hand and yell, "Hey hey, ho ho…the Right has got to go! Hey hey…"
Tired of being blasted daily by the glass-wearing pundits on TV, the politicians on the Right agree to fund more policing in urban cities while stating, "We must all fight together to keep our cities safe."
My daughter and her boyfriend live in Studio City. He’s in production so no work. They both applied and received unemployment benefits quickly and then the $600 came right after. They also received their $1,200 each. I am convinced there will be additional stimulus checks and soon.
For those who have filed and not received many landlords will work with them. Just going on strike is not part of the rental agreement, whether during a crisis or not.
Should a landlord, who receives no rental income for April and May and June from their 6-plex continue to pay for water, garbage, common area electric etc while getting no income?

Yesterday, Garcetti announced he was doing this btw. He’s going to handle crime the same way he handled the homeless situation. By doing nothing and letting it get worse.

1. Taix is going out of business in its current form.
2. We live in a housing-starved city.
The developer should be applauded for turning a soon-to-be-abandoned parking lot and building into 170 new apts and 24 affordable housing units.
How Santa Monica’s pedestrian mall became too successful for its own good
People who were not in LA in the 70s and 80s would have a difficult time believing how crowded Westwood Village would get on Friday and Saturday nights. I mean absolutely packed, shoulder to shoulder on all of the sidewalks. Huge lines for movies. Such a fun atmosphere, it was the place to hang out. I miss those days.
