Yet NIMBYs like those in Silver Lake are fighting the installation of a traffic light and crosswalk at very busy Silver Lake Blvd and Earl Street. This is extremely important as the public is given more access to the shared public space (pedestrian/running paths—-not on the crazy traffic-filled and curvy Silver Lake Blvd—-and park) in the area surrounding the Reservoir. The NIMBYs who are so opposed to shared public space would rather risk lives than make crossing the street safe for those accessing the shared public space.
Improving Sunset Junction: Time For A Jamba Juice?

Perhaps the Silver Lake NIMBYs can come up with a way to label solar heat as "development", then try to stop it by trying to protect "cool weather". Silver Lake Neighborhood Council Friends of Cool Weather Committee. Or maybe a blog by one of the "Proud to be a NIMBY" folks/artists/photocopiers full of nonsensical conclusions.
Silver Lake’s largest residential property seeks $6M
Nice idea but if Silver Lake is to remain the uniquely diverse and vibrant community that it is and has been historically we will need to preserve even our relatively few estate properties, no?
Silver Lake Homeowners Can't Cope Without Reservoir
"and don’t bring up the whole "well drain echo park lake too" nonsense. from what i know, echo park lake was intended to be and has always been used for recreation.""
Echo Park was also a reservoir similar to Silver Lake many decades ago. The reservoir what was in Echo Park was scaled down to the recreational lake that it is now. I believe that the same concept should be done to Silver Lake. The lake at Echo Park is a cash cow so I was guess that the lake to be carved out of the existing reservoir at the Silver Lake site will be significantly smaller than that of the one see at Echo Park.
I know it’s a lot, but I like the way they opened-up the interior plus Silver Lake. From strictly an investment potential I’ll agree with others who picked Glendale
House looks nice, but hasn’t that style of fence become cliche, especially in Silver Lake? I could toss a rock up in the air in the 90039 and 90026 zip codes, and I’m pretty sure it would hit one of those fences on the way down. Though, the gaps between the wood planks are good for stuffing with flyers/literature of the Silver Lake NIMBY cause of the moment or complaint du jour.
@ #42….Sorry, but Silver Lake truly is a great place to live and (gasp) worth the price. I know it must be a great disappointment to you that some people are actually happy with their circumstance. But in all honesty, I hope you find a place that you enjoy as much as I do Silver Lake, but is sounds like location is probably not the problem.
Locals Fret About Proposed Stoplight on Silver Lake Boulevard
#31, not that it matters, but I’ve lived in Silver Lake longer than you have, and I like all the improvements to the neighborhood, too. But I hate your NIMBYsm in the name of "preserving" some sort of way of life to which you feel you are entitled that includes keeping people from shared public land, from safety when walking around Silver Lake Reservoir, and from moving into the neighborhood.
Hard Market to Move a Silver Lake Log Cabin Duplex
I’ve been hearing a lot of talk about Silver Lake having lost its sizzle. It wasn’t too long ago that ANY house in Silver Lake that came up on the market was snatched up in days. Seeing this and other houses including the Schindler How house makes me think what people are saying might be true. That is the problem with trendy neighborhoods. They become unfashionable as quickly as they became fashionable.
