RE: "Disneyland continues to wring out every last dollar from patrons"
What a blatantly false description of the article, which is about people selling individual days of a non-transferable multi-day pass. If you think Disney tickets are too expensive, don’t buy them. Disney has every right to go after people that violate the terms that they implicitly agreed to when they purchased that pass.
Mapping the Most Parking-Ticketed Blocks in All of Los Angeles
Well, the Parking Violations Bureau writes out tickets ahead of the street sweepers, so how would they know if a street actually got swept or swept within the posted time frame?
Answer: They wouldn’t. And does anyone thing they’ll make another pass to collect erroneous tickets if they did somehow know?
Ehhhnt.
CHANCE: Pay $73, ($75 online), do not pass "Go." Do not collect $200.
Metro Raises Train and Bus Fares But Adds Free Transfers
I am super pro free transfers but I do wonder about the "half of Metro riders transfer at least once per trip" figure. Wouldn’t most (all?) people who do this probably have a pass of some sort? If you’re making a round-trip with a transfer each way, you’d pay $6 in individual fares when you could buy a day pass for $5.
This is a horrifically bad idea. I live off of Barham and timed my commute over the pass through Hollywood the morning after the Oscars – it took 33 minutes from Barham/Lake Hollywood to Franklin and Highland, which is way too long. A lot of us "proud Hollywood residents" actually COMMUTE through Hollywood to get to the Hills – it’s not just a tourist destination, but it’s own neighborhood, and one that many of us pass through.
City sets street vending fees in English. Where were the translators?
> So much hate for street vendors! they help make our streets engaging and desirable places to pass through and spend time in.
Stepping into the street so that you can pass by a card table full of cheap cell phone cases while someone shouts "hot dog! hot dog! hot dog!" in your ear is somehow desirable? Let me guess: you work in City Hall?
Place a $10 tax on every car parked all day in any office building, or add $100 per car for a monthly parking pass – help raise revenue as well as get people thinking MTA options.
To Rich – buy a day pass and thus you do not have to buy 3 separate fares from Lincoln hts to the Convention Center.
Curbed Poll: Neighborhood Train Stop Worth The $$$?
This isn’t actually "home free". The bill still needs to pass through the Senate and the governor needs to sign it. The other bill that would lower the majority needed to pass a sales tax from 67% to 55% could also have a big effect on what gets passed when.
Conservative Counties such as Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Riverside have all passed transit tax renewals with an over 67% majority.
#5, not to belabor this, but Steve Hymon’s story does suggest the measure will pass (see below). But we’ll see…
‘The most interesting kernel Smith offered up was that polling done by the campaign indicates that there’s enough support for Measure R to pass. I asked him if the support was evenly distributed throughout L.A. County and he said it was. "You don’t get 66% unless you’ve got 66% everywhere," Smith said.’
Metro Moving Ahead With Measure R Extension to Speed Up All Kinds of Juicy Transit
@guest #25: Hmm…I was responding as to why 30/10 didn’t pass. Read the facts instead of using blanket statements of hate. Congress didn’t pass 30/10. Antonio tried his best. So we have to do Measure R+, which I fully support. I support additional taxes for local support (even Reaganites liked local taxes, but not today’s Republicans).
Up Close With the Gold Line's Almost-Finished Basket Bridge
I remember when the freight train used to go through where the Gold Line from Union station to Pasadena is now and into Arcadia and beyond. I used to wait many long minutes for the slow train to pass so I could pass. Not to long after it was abandoned, it was used as a light rail. I dont think people along this route really opposed any rail because it has been there forever. The Westside is a different story.
