@guest #44: Most actors move out of Hollywood once they make a few bucks. They usually move to Beverly Hills there #1 spot, followed by Holmby Hills and Bel Air, then Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, and Malibu. Some do move to the Valley and even a few randoms who move to Hidden Hills so no one bothers them. Flip side is there are in the middle of no where.
Bev Hills Has the Most $10MM-Plus House Sales Outside NYC
Prices have blasted off in Bel Air, Brentwood, and especially Beverly Hills the last 2 years. People say the higher taxes and slow recovery will slow these deals but I see more of them and see prices go up faster then ever on homes over $4 Million range. 60% of the buys over $5 Million my agent told me in Beverly Hills is all cash. Who are these buyers?
Hipster Flippers' 1907 Bungalow in Echo Park Asking $849k
enough with the haters. is a great house, great space.
needs some major landscaping quickly to cover those sod/bark patches that will look very worn very quick.
but no doubt the spaces are great, the rehab beautiful – is at totally cool house. price is high, but what else do you get for that price? be real. people with $$ wanna live in echo park. you could have a cheesy condo in brentwood for same price.
Motor Makeover: Second Mixed-User Starts Work in Palms
Palms is set up very well for the future. Access to the 10/405 with a rail option, centrally located in many regards too. I moved here after living in Brentwood, it’s far from a cesspool lol. Is it the best ever? no. But its very livable and nothing to hate on. You might not like to hear it, but palms is a decent value investment.
Why is it that when people are jealous because they will never be able to afford a house like the one in Brentwood, the first thing they do is criticize? My guess is that if they were given that house as a gift, they’d drop everything they own and move there no faster than all the poo coming out of their envious, hypocrite mouths. Pathetic. It’s a nice house. Sorry you can’t afford it.
Jealousy is a terrible thing. Every time a large, expensive home shows up here it becomes a target for criticism, whether it’s in BH, SaMo, Brentwood, BelAir or PacPal. Give it a rest, people. Don’t like the house? Move on. Whether the house is beautiful or not, well, that’s subjective. The owners thought it was nice so they built it/bought it. Jeezus.
One in Three Home Buys in SoCal is Now Made All in Cash
Brentwood, the one in London was by Tate Modern. But you are right, I suppose it just depends on what area of the city you’re in. Generally London is more expensive for sure, just looked it up and the avg price per square foot is ridiculous. I read the average price per square foot in Hong Kong is $11,000. Is that even possible? Where do all the low, medium, or even the lower end of high wage workers possibly live?
The Valley Village House Where Marilyn Monroe Got Her Start Was Just Demolished
If this was illegally demolished, that’s the only aspect that bothers me. But from what I can tell, it was merely the time frame that was disregarded. Big deal.
The building(s) themselves weren’t significant in anyway, other than a one-time tenant with a pop-culture status. I don’t think it would have been even remotely successful as a tourist attraction, as Marilyn’s life is well-documented and was mostly confined to Hollywood proper and Brentwood.
LA millennials have the lowest rate of homeownership in the nation
Such b.s. and misleading. They use the median home price in LA which includes Palisades, Brentwood, West LA, beach cities, Bel Air, etc. You can get a house in any neighboring city (foothills, Norwalk, Whitter, etc.) for $250,000 to $400,000. Millennials are too entitled to live in one of those areas, commute or actually save money to buy a house. They would rather have their cold pressed juices, lattes and $15 cocktails.
What should Metro build through the Sepulveda Pass?
Whatever it is, it needs to be a seamless connection to the rest of the rail transit network. Existing and future lines need to extend to the 405 – Hawthorne / LAX / Culver City / West LA / Santa Monica / Brentwood – where the new line should connect to the north (West Valley) and south (Long Beach). Doesn’t matter if it’s a Tesla surface rocket…it has to connect across the platform to subway and light rail.
