Contemporary charcoal cottage in Inglewood seeks $650K
Looks beautiful… but the Crenshaw Line looks like it’ll pass by directly across the street. Can’t tell if that’s worthwhile or not…? My money’s on not.
Kunstler: CA High Speed Rail Proves We're "Too Stupid To Survive"
@slueth: Oh, and to follow up: the reason everything in california is funded with bonds is because you only need a simple majority to pass a debt-funded bond measure, but you need a 2/3rds majority to pass a tax increase, which pretty much means you can’t pass tax increases in CA.
And you can thank your low property taxes for that:
What should Metro build through the Sepulveda Pass?
These are precisely the reasons that many transit planners think bus rapid transit is the way to go through the Sepulveda Pass. Buses could converge from many places on the Westside, go through the pass, then fan out again in the Valley. The buses would be able to provide much more point to point service than any rail line. Some could feed onto the Orange Line BRT. There would need to be an elevated structure or a tunnel through the pass itself. But it would still be cheaper, quicker to build, and probably more useful than rail.
Metro Moving Ahead With Measure R Extension to Speed Up All Kinds of Juicy Transit
NO ON MEASURE R!
Until the MTA starts spending our money on our needs, and not on political favors, then they shouldn’t get more of our paychecks. Our needs are based on the areas where the most hours are wasted. I would think that’s the 405 pass.
The 405 pass is last on the list and only has enough money for buses, not even light rail, let alone heavy rail. Therefore, if they want our tax dollars, then move the 405 pass to #1 and make it rail. Otherwise, NO ON MEASURE R!
The idea is that you (the motorist) are responsible for only passing when it is safe to do so. This means if you can not leave three feet, don’t pass. People get so worked up about the three foot rule, but it is there for a reason. So often drivers try to thread the needle and end up hitting a cyclist or running them off the road or into the curb, and the excuse is always "I thought I could make it." I repeat, if you can not pass safely, do not pass. A cyclist is taking up the whole lane? TS, don’t pass unless it is safe. As far as crossing the center line goes, I have never heard of a cop ticketing a motorist for crossing the line to leave a three foot buffer.
Metro Might Raise Its Low Fares But Make Transfers Free
I agree with the new Metro fare proposal. New fare is fair. The only thing that I find stupid in the proposal is the daily pass. If it is $1.75 for 90 mins of free transfers = $7 for four 90 min uses. A daily pass is going to $7. No savings unless you plan to use it constantly throughout the day. The same price for $2 or $2.25. The day pass should be less than 4 trips total and more than the daily rate of a weekly pass. I hope Metro changes the routes for more super rapid routes (like the commuter express) and more very local routes centered around rail lines (like the dash).
