1913 Robert D. Farquhar Villa in San Marino Asking $17MM
Comparing San Marino to Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Bel air? You do realize San Marino is a republican city right. It doesn’t seem like you get it guest 19. The west side side and upper east side are divided, the west being more liberal where as the east more conservative. I mean commercialism is banned in Bradbury and fast food is banned in San Marino. For over 60 years the city of San Marino was predominantly white, and now it’s mostly Asian so I don’t think the people who move there are looking for diversity. San Marino is a family, old money, conservative republican city so I’m sure most of the people there don’t care about clubs, "events", sports, shopping or entertainment. I know some people in San Marino that don’t even have televisions in their house but they have libraries.
Bruce Jenner vs. Kris Jenner: Who Lives Better Post-Divorce?
Here you people go again with the Hidden Hills battle, none of you can say anything about Beverly Hills or Hidden Hills since none of you never lived in either city. Let me tell you guys no one gives a crap about what your opinions are, because your opinion does not matter. None of you can afford to live in Hidden Hills or Bel Air, so please stop commenting on neighborhoods you know nothing about. Both are some of the best neighborhoods in Los Angeles metro area. How about you guys focus on your micro apartments or moving out of your parents house. And @LA Hidden Hills is closer to the pristine beaches of Malibu, than BH.
Lawsuits Stop Big Hollywood Target and It Could Be Torn Down
@LosFelizRabbit: Don’t compare this area to WEHO. LA City is being run by a bunch of incompetent council members who have way too large of an area to manage. WEHO is a prime example of what happens when a local and vested government takes responsibility and control. WEHO looked worse then this 1984 now look at it, LA needs to split into several more cities if it’s every going to move forward. Hollywood was once it’s own city, bring it back and make the following into new cities- Hollywood, combine Brentwood-Bel Air, Korea Town, combine Beverly Grove-Fairfax, Sherman Oaks, and Encino to start.
Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka's Magical Sherman Oaks Home Asking $2.995 Million
@JC you’re an idiot, I’m glad you have a idiotic ideology so you don’t go anywhere north of Mulholland. That’s the dumbest crap I’ve ever heard, you also will never go to Beverly Park, Bel Air Crest, etc. Why are you so worried about other peoples land value and housing costs? I can tell you one thing mines is sure worth more than anything you’ll ever have, and it didn’t come from writing comments a blog either, hard work is something you know nothing of, clearly you don’t appreciate all of Los Angeles, so you might as well be a NY troll, since you somehow believe LA basin is Manhattan, which it’ll never be. Millions of Tourist from around the country do in facts come to San Fernando Valley, in fact it’s of the most diverse regions in the country.
The 10 Most Expensive Places to Buy a House in Los Angeles
This data was done poorly and only an ignorant editor of little real estate knowledge would post it. Several of these areas have homes and condo sales while other are just homes thus the higher prices, it actually means very little. North of Montana is an expensive area but far from the most expensive in the city. If you are going split N. of Montana from Santa Monica then do the same to the other regions, have Lower Bel Air, Holmby Hills, Trousdale, North Of Santa Monica and North of Sunset for Beverly Hills. Why is Brentwood not on this list? Even parts of Hankcock Park & Los Feliz would be more expensive the way this data was presented, this is a meaningless report I wish they took more time to drill down more areas.
LA apartment rentals: What $2,050 rents you in LA right now
Sure, you have a point. I know it takes effort to show up and get involved but young people, middle income people, and poor people are indeed, as you put it, being screwed by bad housing policy largely because old wealthy retired people from Bel Air, Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, Cheviot Hills, the Hollywood Hills, and parts of Silver Lake are the ones who do show up and thus are dictating backwards looking housing policy that is holding things back for the whole city.
It is absolutely vital that young people who are the ones who will actually be around in the future figure out a way to take the reins and it is frustrating to see that in large part they aren’t even trying.
If people can’t show up to council meetings they can call and write their council member.
Like usual the rich snobs on the Westside (Brentwood, Bev Hills etc) always label a classic building ugly and outdated. Truth is most have the only taste in their mouth if you look at all the ugly overdone mini-mansions they put up in Brentwood and Santa Monica on small lots. Most of those pretentious a holes don’t know the meaning of the word subtle. Clean simple lines are classy. Not those new buildings that are the equivalent of women with too much makeup and jewelry driving a Hummer. Just because you have money doesn’t mean you have taste. Just drive down Sunset Blvd in Bel-Air and that point is proven. Really, who cares anymore, they’ve already ruined this city. Besides, quality construction is a thing of the past, these new buildings will crumble in the big one while the 50’s and 60’s structures will probably still be standing.
Responding to complaints from several, affluent Bel-Air homeowner associations and ignoring critics who claim his department is recklessly charging suspects in the attempt to clear a series of unsolved, Westside break-ins, LAPD chief Charlie Beck has announced the arrests of two Baby Mountain lions and a Coyote in connection with the November burglary of a home on Chalon Rd. Beck also hinted at additional charges being filed against the trio, by linking them to last weeks Rancho Park home invasion, where an elderly couple were bound and then robbed of valuables by three, "cougar like" assailants.
Pasadena to BHPO, Market Flooded with Wallace Neffs
I’ve wondered about this myself. There are fewer and fewer buyers of means who prefer the delicacy and proportion — which when it’s not very dramatic tends to be on the diminutive side — that is the Neff hallmark. Fact is, his fans tend to be those who appreciate his artistry, but can’t afford his real estate. His houses are even being torn down now because, frankly, they’re outdated (The Miller/Grant/Roddenberry house in Bel-Air comes to mind).
And it’s not only Neff; it happens with Coate, Colcord, Kaufmann, even Paul Williams. All of them are suffering at the same fickle finger of architectural fashion. When I see a realtor note a home’s architectural provenance, more and more frequently I fear the response isn’t "ooohh!", it’s "who?"…or worse, "so?"
@El Dabe Edmond Sherif: honestly, i have never seen a lawsuit conducted in that fashion. the sentiment is correct, but the execution is almost never that.
the speed limit is 35 in bel air no? ive driven through numerous times, and yes, at 3 am it can be a bit of a risk. but that is why you slow down and drive responsibly. on the surface it seems that he should shut up and suffer the consequences of being unsafe. but without a police report stating otherwise, and with an asking rate of $50k, i kinda think is he is not looking to stick it to the city for a payout. im not sure the motives based on that. id like to hear some more so i can form an opinion.
