The black and white photos are not Shulman’s. They are simply black and white versions of the current photos intended to give the house that authentic vintage look. The Scarpa couches were designed in 1960, years after Shulman shot this house for Straub (to say nothing of the Dualit toaster in the kitchen). Much better than Ikea though.

This is a Smith & Williams design. I don’t think Buff & Hensman had much of hand in this. The only elements that appear Buff & Hensman are the kitchen, the bathroom vanities and the other built-in walnut cabinets. The 3/4" reveal detail on the cabinets is the giveaway. That was their typical cabinet detail in the 60’s ~ 70’s.

That’s quite an "ambitious" asking price, especially when most people who have access to the internet can find much larger properties in nice areas for $3K a month. But maybe some rich architecture buff will rent it to use an an office or a place to have illicit affairs with other architecture buffs, in the buff.

Buff & Hensmann is by far my favorite architect. But this interior – particularly the wall treatment – is ATROCIOUS! Beyond the pale. Did Commune bother looking at precedent imagery of original work by Buff & Hensmann?

The recent Postwar Pasadena tour featured a few Buff and Hensman buildings that were outstanding. Me likey

Since when are Buff and Hensman celebrated architects. Of the 15 or so homes I have seen, two were interesting.
