AEG's Talked to 5 NFL Teams, Stadium Gets a Planning Committee
@guest #18:
So we would spend billions of dollars on 3 "fast trains"??? to 1 neighborhood Venice, a suburban outpost the South Bay and you say the Valley….which already has a "fast train". Wtf are you talking about? You can’t be this stupid. Roski is that you?
Sunset's Tower Records/Birthplace of the Car Stereo Could Have Tough Road to Landmarking
I’m sure Amoeba is having a hard enough time affording its 90K+ a month rent that it doesn’t need an outpost 4 miles down the road. Level this hideous building and lets bring this corner fully into the 21st Century.
Nine Years Later, Angels Flight Opening to Riders*
@centrocitta: He is a Cultural Treasure, if not an outright Landmark Resource. And just as fun and knowledgable one-on-one: He and I took a drive through Trousdale Estates weekend before last that we should have sold tickets to.
Children's Hospital Takes Sunset Blvd Lot Near Circuit City
@dorit: I remember Blue Chip Stamps, and I’ll even tack on another one: one of the homes in my Trousdale Estates book was built for the founder of S & H Green Stamps, Irving Bulmash. LA history AND swoopy googie architecture all in one!
There is an enormous back story here related to multiple murders and a residential fire in the Cahuenga Pass area (Lake Hollywood Estates or somewhere nearby) This hotel has been in on/off construction mode for five or more years. Anybody know about this???
Beverly Hills Losing Cred to Brentwood, Creating 90210 Credit Card
I think a bulldozer should be the official logo of the Beverly Hills credit card, considering the city endorses the demolition of historic homes/estates of old Hollywood, as well as landmarks ie. Beverly Theater. to be replaced with McMansions and stores for lease!
Except Mitten’s LaJolla digs, they look surprisingly modest. Especially compared to John Edwards and Al Gore’s manses. But no one can top our two senators for having estates in California, where the other two guys just have them in some flyover state.
Lloyd Wright's Celeb-Magnet Samuel-Novarro House in Los Feliz
It’s not really a house that can be lived in comfortably. It meanders and has no logical flow. I’ve sold estates in the area for $4+m, this isn’t an estate and I’ve learned that most buyers don’t really care about the architectural significance of a property. We’ll see a reduction on this one soon or it will never sell.
