Maybe the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council Friends of Animals Committee can work something out with the blue herons and coyotes where they sprinkle them with magic dust so they get really big and give people rides or flights across the street. Think Dr. Doolittle. The opening of the rides could be a spectacular event that can be captured by a local Silver Lake artist using a photocopier.

This house would make a lot more sense up in the hills than on Silver Lake Drive, which gets lots of foot and car traffic right there. Even being a block or two above Silver Lake Drive would make a huge difference. But $1.3 million is way too much given the location. As a comparison, a lovely house of similar size but with outside space and reservoir views a half-mile away on Moreno sold for $1.2 million just last week.

I don’t know why we are only debating Los Feliz, Silver Lake and Echo Park. Areas like Westlake, Koreatown and even Mid-Wilshire are considered the "East Side" by those who live West of the 405. My personal belief is that all of this area, from the Downtown Arts District to just east of La Cienega, should be called Central LA. So calling Echo Park and Silver Lake "North Central" makes sense within that system.

It shows you how out of touch the developers are with the residents of Silver Lake when they refer to the project as "a neighborhood revitalizer." Sorry, but Silver Lake is one of the most vital neighborhoods in LA! I’m sure that to someone living in the suburbs or the bland west side, it looks a little rough around the edges, but that’s how we like it.

I agree it can be done but the reality is will masses of people be willing to do it? I would guess no because they aren’t doing it now. A girl out on the town would not be able to use the Red Line to get to Silver Lake unless she was wearing her Converse. It’s kind of a lame discussion considering how few people that live in Silver Lake walk to the Red Line.

that dog park gets tons of use which is great and it’s in a very central location but it does look like a dust bowl – it’s nearly impossible to keep grass there. some sort of shade structure would be great since silver lake gets pretty hot in the mid day sun. I also think it would be better if they could somehow located the entrance on a different side not right on silver lake blvd.

I actually kind of like this house, not for me but for someone. It has SOUL and a unique take on how to live in one’s own bliss. To me that is very much the Silver Lake ethos. I think a lot of outsiders just aren’t capable of getting that. It isn’t their fault, it is our job as emissaries of the Silver Lake lifestyle to educate.

Silver Lake is not a private neighborhood with HOA"s thus It’s legal to rent rooms or your entire house. The Silver Lake Neighborhood Council cannot write laws, only the LA city council has that authority.

Short term rentals are a legal practice throughout LAC and in fact every city in the US.

It is absolutely incredible how just by being only a short hop skip and a jump from Silver Lake the asking price for this house is probably $500,000 less than it would be if it was in Silver Lake proper…..What is it the real estate agents say about location, location, location……This has the potential to be such an elegant home for whoever the lucky buyer is and at this price they will be able to afford to furnish it!

When the site for the Silver Lake Library was up for consideration, some local residents proposed that it be located here to replace the van lines facility (directly across Robinson from the Bellevue Primary Center). South Silver Lake was included in the demographics to justify the library, but in the staff recommendation, this site was pronounced to be outside of the area served by the proposed library.
