OK, the exterior pic of the North Hollywood option is the redone home "in front," not the newly built "back house" being rented. Google satellite makes that clear (as the "back home" isn’t even in the satellite pic, I don’t think). The StreetView shows a rundown version of the older front house.
65-unit supportive housing project opens in East Hollywood
When will they start building similar facilities in other parts of the city or other cities within LA County?
West LA, Pasadena, Woodland Hills etc. They cannot all be concentrated east of LA Brea, NELA or Hollywood. Spread them out!

I’m very supportive of this as long as it is combined with an increase of enforcement against the portion of the homeless population that would never set foot in this type of facility because they prefer to steal/panhandle to fuel their drug habit rather than live under any rules or conditions. And then only put forth more enforcement resources in neighborhoods, like Hollywood, that are pulling their weight in allowing these types of facilities to be constructed despite NIMBY opposition. Carrot and stick.
Bidding for dazzling View Park midcentury starts at $1.1M
I grew up in this area and attended Windsor Hills Elementary, which is right down the street from this outstanding house. Since this area of View Park was the site of the 1932 Olympic Village, almost all of the houses were built post WWII and there are many fine examples of midcentury modern homes nearby. This one is the best and it has a very nice view of the small park across Mt Vernon, the canyon and the hills beyond.
Mediterranean-inspired house in Pasadena’s Bungalow Heaven seeks $1.24M
Agreed. I believe it somehow gives them access to the lives of those they aspire to be but in many cases it is really two steps above a car salesman with copious paperwork. In the supposed "upper echelons" of RE in Beverly Hills there are some might questionable characters with way too much access that have enriched themselves far beyond the sale of the property to have actually become executors of and beneficiaries of said properties.
Committee backs Chinatown’s College Station development without any affordable housing
Well, I said "walkable" streets and now you’re saying "livable" streets. So perhaps you have an esoteric definition of "livable" that is lost on the rest of us.
There are multiple neighborhoods in LA that are both walkable and full of SFRs: Los Feliz, Venice, Hollywood, Silver Lake, Echo Park, Larchmont. I don’t know how you could argue otherwise.
San Fernando Valley sees record-low home sales—even as prices drop
True. You forgot Canoga Park, Reseda, San Fernando, Pacoima, Sylmar, Sepulveda, North Hills, Sun Valley, and for honorable methion (sic), Sunland-Tujunga.
No amount of hand-wringing can overcome the taint.

Construction on 30-story tower at 2nd, Broadway set to begin in 2022
Impossibly trite and dated.
Gensler also deposited meaningless buildings in West Hollywood.
Now Frank Gehry is doing the same.
Sad lack of inspiration.
Those houses are in completely different cities/neighborhoods. You can also find similar sized houses for $1.8 million in West Hollywood and Beverly Hills. The house in Atwater is appropriately priced based on prices and comps in Atwater. You may not like it, but the price is 100% "realistic."

i lived in Hollywood near Runyon for many years… aside from slightly cooler summers… there’s really not much difference between living in Studio City and hiking fryman.. vs. living on fuller street in hollywood and hiking runyon canyon. If you live in the valley.. make sure to live close to a freeway and the hills on either side for a decent commute and/or nice area. Living in the middle of Reseda or Van Nuys where you have to drive 15-20 minutes to a freeway or hiking trails is where the mediocre to bad areas are. Draw a nice thick line along the 101… 118.. 134 freeways up into the mountains on either side and choose to live in the cheapest part of those areas. You will enjoy the valley. Only freeway to avoid living too close to would be the 5/405.
