Proposition 10: California’s rent control ballot measure, explained
Disinformation? John, you say nothing how this prop will help housing because it will not. Here are the facts and why Costa Hawkins is so important. Protect new construction from rent control. Why is this important? Removing this protection will reduce future housing. Making it harder to find housing. Protect single family homes from Rent Control. Well I do not think any municipalities is crazy enough to try this but it will discourage people from renting their homes. Again less housing. Lastly, prevent vacancy control, which is an incredibly stupid idea, which would have the most dire economic long term affects on housing. Ask any economist or anyone who has taken economics as a class will tell you fixing prices will have the exact opposite affect it is trying to protect.
The unintended consequence if this passes. Imagine the potential of 438 different housing rules with their own rules. If you are a tenant you bear the brunt of this since you will have to become an expert in the local laws versus the landlord who’s property is not going to move and will know exactly what can be done.
Proposition 10: California’s rent control ballot measure, explained
Don’t kid yourselves: Half of the people posting anti-rent control comments under these articles are paid shills. Wall Street and wealthy real estate companies are hiring them to spread disinformation about rent control/Prop 10. The other half are landlords, who can’t come to grips with the fact that there should be regulations, that people are starving, that families are being kicked out of their apartments because they can’t afford their exorbitant rent fees. All they care about is the almighty buck.
Come November, I will vote "Yes" Prop 10. Costa Hawkins is a terrible, disgraceful law that should be repealed. Don’t buy into their nonsense, their rantings and ravings of the paid shills. They don’t have your best interests at heart—if they did, they wouldn’t be charging you 2,000 a month for an overpriced and overvalued apartment in Los Angeles, Ventura, Thousand Oaks, or wherever you’re from.
Venice residents jeer as LA mayor lays out plan for 154-bed homeless shelter
Truth is until these people are arrested and removed they will continue to ruin big parts of L.A. I love my white liberal pals , i am a white liberal on most things, but well fed white liberals do not understand how much and how many "homeless" in Venice are doing just fine, they love it. nice beach, lots of handouts, no work to be bothered with. Being homeless in Venice is actually not a bad choice.
Truth is until these people are arrested and removed they will continue to ruin big parts of L.A. Eventually that is exactly what will – somehow – happen because those working their ass off to pay and rent and house their kids (who can’t play in many parks because of the "homeless" ) and those who spent a zillion to buy a house are going to get fed up with the layabouts everywhere. The city will "remove" them or some other group will… count on that.

Like it or not – this is just correct. If you are a certain type being homeless on the Westside is quite nice. The weather is nice, people give you money , no work, Catholic charities will give you a square and a shower a few times a week, and you can hang on the beach.
Truth is until these people are arrested and removed they will continue to ruin big parts of L.A. They must be made unwelcome or it will get worse.

Sorry but much of the "homelessness" in Venice is a choice. Nice beach, nice climate, the catholics pony up food and showers. Why leave? That is a just a fact.
For-sale condos proposed near Ponce City Market in Old Fourth Ward
The inclusionary zoning ordinance doesn’t apply to for-sale properties. O4W is actually paving the way for fixing that problem by forcing that 21-story proposal the article mentions (now downsized to 10 stories) to include one for-rent unit that will be affordable at 80% of AMI for 20 years.
Howell Mill Road ‘complete streets,’ other Renew Atlanta plans could be in jeopardy
I don’t care what color they paint the crosswalks, but spending $132,000 (if my math is right) on paint and labor seems a little excessive. (In full disclosure, I know nothing of the cost of road paint or labor costs for painters).
Beverly Hills schools call on Trump administration to strip Purple Line funding
Yeah, lots of prospective riders with their golf bags headed to the country club across the boulevard….
Residents of BH simply do not care about taxpayers saving half a billion dollars whenever iLL Douche and his friends in D.C. lard out billions in tax cuts for the one percent, Pastrami.
Eli Broad ought to buy the golf course and then will it to the city of L A on the condition that it be converted to a public park, and that the restrooms be located up against the BH border.
Beverly Hills schools call on Trump administration to strip Purple Line funding
The famous collapse on Hollywood Boulevard was due to failure to inject mortar into the geologic strata under the boulevard. Please explain to all of us what a ‘trivially’ tunnel widening is, how is such a trivial measure achieved, Pastrami Brain™.
