@ncrpz2: Because nobody really cares what happens in the 818. Why don’t people move into the neighborhoods they want to live in, instead of trying to change the nature of an already existing established neighborhood? If you like McMansions, there are plenty of them in places like Irvine Calabasas, Lake Sherwood, etc. Why destroy the vibe of an area with history, charm, old growth trees and a friendly atmosphere?

Although the house house has been completely renovated, it lacks any character of its bungalow roots. The street it’s on faces walls of garages of multiple family dwellings – not exactly the nicest thing to look at. There are house for sale at that price point (or lower that need some updating), that are in nicer locations in Silver Lake.

With all these Silver Lake houses getting listed the obvious move here is everyone is dumping their lake view properties before the pipeline project , which will be a living hell for anyone near the lake for 3 years, starting in mid 2015.

Los Feliz/Silver Lake/Echo Park and even Downtown is all considered "the eastside." Think of Hollywood as the central point.

Also, what do you get for your money? A $900/month apt in Crenshaw isn’t worth it, unless you like gunshots, barking dogs, barred windows and a ten-block walk to the Food 4 Less. An $1865/month apt in Silver Lake or Los Feliz, with quiet neighbors, tons of stores and subway/bus links to Downtown is worth every penny.

Let’s just hope he doesn’t replace the backyard grass with his infamous Silver Lake "grass". Just say NO to that wrinkled hot mess.

I really like the Toluca Lake and Glendale places, but they’re in the Valley. The Fairfax place is equally nice, so that has my vote.

We live in Bel Air… and I wouldn’t even have my own kids trick-or-treat here. No sidewalks, insane drivers and gated properties. I have to say the Palisades is where it’s at – and MUCH friendlier. Toluca Lake sounds awesome too.

I used to camp and ride ATVs 30 years ago with my family at Pismo Beach and Oso Flaco Lake- you could still see some of the remnants of the set at that time sticking out of the sand. It was pretty cool.

No one mentions the Silver Lake pipeline project that will be turning that lake view into a two year long view of a dusty ,noisy construction site in 2015.
