This is far from a bigger picture especially when it’s not factoring the various valley areas (as stated) but also the South Bay, Pasadena and maybe even the Long Beach area. If you’re going to include Santa Monica as part of LA Metro you’ve got to be a little fairer
After civil rights violation claim, Metro is pressed for more data on fare enforcement
Are you saying that Santa Monica is an African American neighborhood? I’ve ridden the expo line over 100 times. They get on the train and inspect at all stops along the ride.
After civil rights violation claim, Metro is pressed for more data on fare enforcement
African American riders on Metro buses and trains are issued more tickets because the fare inspectors enforce the law in African American neighborhoods. I have never been inspected on the Gold Line past Union Station. I only get inspected on the Expo Line at the last station in Santa Monica. I wonder how many people are evading fares on Expo and Gold lines.
Downtowners not giving up on Arts District Metro station
"that data’s straight from the horse’s mouth and current (2016)"
Source? As far as I’m concerned the only published data was from Jose Huizar’s office in 2012, listed at just over 2600. This is 2018, so unless you can cite me a direct source, I don’t really buy it. Again my building alone has just over 500-people. Not like it matters because we’re not looking for a train stop to deal with residents alone; we’ll need it because we know the rate at which the neighborhood is growing, and how vital it is to make it accessible to commuters, and tourists—not now, but 10-years down the road.
"people pushing for this project are insanely arrogant. whinging about walking a few blocks to existing transit stations or elitist pricks who’re "too good" for the bus. completely unjustified. that area’s already serviced by an INSANE amount of routes, these people are NUTS."
Yeah, you don’t live here. So you don’t get to have a voice about it. You don’t contribute taxes, and you don’t even know what the neighborhood is like on a normal day. Let me get this straight, you live in a "major European capital", but visit curbed LA to argue points about neighborhoods you know nothing about, and we’re the ones who are whinging?
You do realize this is Los Angeles right? This is a car-centric city, with a piss-poor mass transit. It’s so inept that it takes me 2-hrs to get to Santa Monica from the Arts District by public transit, and 1-hr by car in traffic on the 10. And you have a problem with me bitching why mass transit shouldn’t be better here?
We have more square miles than nearly all major European cities, way more people, and we don’t have anything remotely like the tube, or métro.
Be a good boy and shut the fuck up because it’s clear to everyone here that you don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about.
The Northridge earthquake caused serious damage all over the city, remember the famous photo of the collapsed bungalow in Santa Monica? We’re in contract on a 1950s ranch house in Northridge and after house, pool, chimney, and sewer line inspections it all appears to be original and undamaged. Maybe that means it will be fine in the next earthquake, but maybe the Northridge quake just primed it to collapse in the next one lol.
Tally finds 26 people died while riding bikes last year in Los Angeles
Beware of the 110lb barista barreling down Santa Monica Blvd, rolling red lights with his regrettable tattoos and earpods blaring… dude’s a menace and he might just take your side mirror off on his way to the ER. it’s a disaster waiting to happen.

well, in my neighborhood, santa monica blvd from beverly glen to wilshire, i think we’re looking at bigger numbers this year. traffic is a nightmare and bike riders and drivers are at risk….from the bikers. it’s a disaster waiting to happen.
Santa Monica moving forward with plan to cap 10 freeway near downtown area
Santa Monica, sustainable?
What, we’re mining our own ore to produce battery sets for power storage from our 5-hour-a-day solar arrays?
We’re using strictly local solar and wind to power everything in the city?
We’re manufacturing the aforementioned technologies here?
Our overpaid bureaucrats all walk to "work"?
We grow all of our own food?
Our water supply is fed strictly from rainfall?
We process our sewage and trash and keep the residue in town?
"Sustainability" is nonsense, and contradicts all the progress of the modern age.
It is just another campaign to divide and conquer, and empower select party folks to separate you from your hard-earned money.
