Vision unveiled for ‘ultimate rooftop experience’ eatery, pool on Westside
There are going to be a lot of disappointed people in that condo tower on the other side of Howell Mill when this Interlock building goes up. Those condos had a killer view for a long time.
Elon Musk says first LA tunnel will open in December
OPERATING?
Has he procurred an occupancy/operating permit from Hawthorne’s Building and Safety Department? Consider the section drawing published today in the L A Times.
It clearly indicates that the elevator and side tunnel connecting to the 125 mph skate- conducting trunkline will be one claustrophobic experience.
How many g’s will passengers have to experience while being turned 90 degrees and injected into the maelstrom, from zero to one hundred and twenty five miles per hour?
If a skate should break down and skid to a stop or catch fire, how do the occupants of a vehicle get the hell out and away and get up to the surface of terra firma? How do emergency personnel access the tunnel so as to rescue riders and retrieve inoperable skates? Will gasoline powered vehicles be accommodated? Once there is an accident and a backup ensues (125 mph down to zero in very short order) and a fire erupts, what is to prevent said fire from spreading from skate to skate to skate – on down the tunnel all the way along the backup back to headquarters in Hawthorne? What’s to prevent Musk’s creating from becoming a long/linear crematorium?
At minimum, riders might wish to wear diapers and an oxygen mask with fresh air supply in their cramped 125 mph ride and then wait, wait, wait in line in order to exit the garage and merge into surface gridlock anywhere on the west side of L A every time there is a brush fire in the Sepulveda Pass, and do not EVEN think of having to take a piss or a dump.
City Council debates small-biz bill at heated hearing
REBY President, John Banks, highlights very well how this bill will kill jobs and hurt small independent businesses from renting space. Landlords will simply not rent to small businesses in the first place knowing they are locked into a certain range they can charge for rent with a higher risk that these small businesses will fail when compared to a large big box chain.
Gigantic Reynoldstown condo space on Beltline aims to fetch $950K
I could see this being fun somewhere up north where it’s dark most of the year. Even with all its flaws, Atlanta is just too beautiful to live shut in something like this all the time. And only one bathroom (that’s not worthy of pictures)?
Does anyone know how many other units are in this building? It looks like maybe 1 per floor?
Despite rampant income inequality, Atlanta (again) ranks as ‘most affordable’ metro
I will never understand how AHA allows so much vacant land to sit empty around the city. According to my analysis back in 2017, the AHA owned 611 acres, much of it vacant.
