Another Night of Ferguson Protests, SoCal's Reading List
Why didn’t the situation get out of hand when a White unarmed kid got shot and killed by a black cop in Salt lake City in August. I hate how the Media only faces their attention on race.
Mid-Century Modern Overlooking Pasadena's Private Johnston Lake Has So Much Potential
when i was little we used to walk to the corner of laguna & la loma and feed the ducks behind the fence. you couldn’t see much of the lake at all. we just called it the duck pond. years later after we’d moved out of the area i went to an outdoor wedding at one of the homes on the lake. it is quite lovely.
Could Bob Hope Airport Become Hollywood Burbank Airport?
@wanderer: Bingo… connect the orange line from North Hollywood Red Line terminus to Burbank (airport; downtown), Glendale (CBD north of the 134; Americana); Eagle Rock, Pasadena (Del Mar gold line; South Lake)
Fancy 600-Square-Foot Garage in Highland Park Asking $499k
$832 a sqft would be way too high on a larger house, but on a small one like this, with such a high-end flip, I can see it getting at least asking. This is a lifestyle house, and there are plenty of people who would love to live there. IMO, Highland Park is no longer just a place people who can’t afford Silver Lake go. It’s becoming a sought after neighborhood in its own right.
Could Bob Hope Airport Become Hollywood Burbank Airport?
Bob Hope and family lived in Burbank forever (OK, neighboring Toluca Lake, to be technical), so there is logic to the current naming. My vote would be for Hope Hollywood-Burbank – it is accurate and would have a nice acronym (HHB).
Great post! I’m surprised to see a couple I wasn’t familiar with, like the first and second place parks. Can’t wait to explore them. The Pasadena one looks particularly nice. I’ve explored a lot of them in the city. So far, the Sepulveda Basin park has been my favorite. I’ve been to the Bone Yard a lot, but it can be a wee bit stinky. The views up there are lovely though. Griffith Park is a bit plain and Silver Lake I wouldn’t go back to. I know it’s not LA County, but Huntington Dog Beach is simply the best. There are several dog-friendly restaurants nearby too, like Park Bench Cafe that even has a special menu just for dogs. It’s small, but Playa Vista in Marina Del Rey has a nice dog park too.
No Hermon dog park? C’mon Curbed, there goes at least 5,000 clicks that you missed out on! And yes, second earlier comment that Silver Lake is not the Eastside.
