Texas to Vernon Biz: If They Disincorporate, You Must Relocate
@dadadali: Hey relax:) … I didn’t say most of what you thought I said. Soros heavily speculated on a number of Southeast Asian currencies and they hate him for it. It was rather brutal and he made a ton of money off of it. Fits into the narrative of the evil Joo thing… a view I don’t subscribe to. Many of the neo-Con intellectuals (and policy makers) are Jewish- many of us have noticed a corollary between the term and anti-semitism.. perhaps we’re out of line, but many on the left really ran with the whole "it’s all for Israel" meme during Bush’s term in office. Apparently war is totally ok with the left now as there are no demonstrations anymore. I disagree about anti-Semitism being on the rise in Europe (as does a good friend who is Jewish and lives in Barcelona). Europe has always been anti-Semitic and the ever increasing Muslim population in Europe doesn’t help matters.
I think you reduce Glenn Beck quite a bit, but I’ve barely watched him so cannot answer you directly. Personally I’m glad to see someone calling out a hard leftist like Van Jones and no, I don’t think it had anything to do with Jones being black. If Obama wants to have hard leftists in his administration he can go for it, but he shouldn’t pretend otherwise or insult us by feigning ignorance. Just another leftist under the Obama bus I guess…
HPOZ Conference Happening This Weekend, Where to Buy a Bale?
@westwoodnc: So far there are three HPOZs in the Valley (a pocket of Van Nuys, Stonehurst in Sun Valley and Balboa Highlands—the Eichler tract—in Granada Hills. SurveyLA will be combing through the Valley noting where potential districts lie, and is paying attention to themes such as planned communities, so hopefully they find that there is enough in-tact residential development there. I don’t know the area very well, is it mostly 1950s ranch houses, or what?
I knew he lived in the Alexandria – and stayed there many other times – and that he also lived at the LA Athletic Club where a Who’s Who of Hollywood lived during their early days. But I did not know he lived at the Stowell or at the Great Northern, which only one of the four DTLA places not now standing.
But does anyone know where he stayed on is first two visits to LA in 1910 when he appeared at the old – and second – Los Angeles Theatre on Spring Street, just north of the old Hellman and now Banco Popular Building? I would guess maybe at the Angelus, the Van Nuys or the Westmininster.
CurbedWire: Van Dekker Residence Finally Sold! What Now?
Archidon, Do I understand you to be the new owner of Van Dekker from this thread (Josh Gorrell?)? If so I’d just like to add my appreciation on behalf of the Van Dekker family (I’m Albert’s grandson).
Best of luck with the project, and if you ever find yourself looking to sell (or worse forced to sell), please try to contact me (in the 21st Century it isn’t too tough to find someone, even no one via google or social networks). On behalf of the family, if this house ever comes on the market again I’d want to see if we could reacquire it for the sake of family history as well as conservation.

Just in case, I think I’ll try to find you directly Mr. Gorrell…
