LA has built 45 shelter beds for the homeless—its goal is 1,500
The homeless in Hollywood are already near schools, parks, and business. The YMCA here in Hollywood already sits right across the street from a school and small playground park that is frequently overrun by homeless folks – ideally this adjacent shelter will help us retake these public spaces and get the area cleaned up at least a little bit.
Looking forward in the big picture, having an adequate number of shelter beds can also assist with enforcement, as the ACLU’s argument about "criminalizing homelessness" because they have "nowhere to go" diminishes substantially the more shelter beds are available.
Metro mulling routes for rapid bus between North Hollywood and Pasadena
They’re not ideal, but they work. The Green and Gold line stops take a little longer to get up to, but they get it done. They’ve got a park-and-ride lot at the 2/134 interchange at Glendale that could probably be built up.
California removes helmet requirement for electric scooters
A premed student’s scooter broke in half while riding those garbage scooters, He was killed instantly by an oncoming car. I’ll have to find the link again. I posted the article many times in previous blog posts about scooters. They drive them in the middle of the room, very rarely in a responsible way like bicyclists. They drive them on sidewalks, park them recklessly for people to trip on. They are a huge nuisance and extremely dangerous. They are not ridden like responsible bicycle riders, with some exceptions of course. Governor brown is an awful man.
What were the demographics of LA in 1940? Funny how that never gets brought up when folks post old pics of downtown LA or Hollywood park or McArthur park. Do they think LA will ever be as it was back then with the current demographics? These people are idiots.
Striking 1960s post and beam seeks $1.4M in La Cañada Flintridge
Stunning – There is simply no property left like this MCM at this price point. A very simple look at Redfin at the comps show that houses of this size sell between $1.7M and $2M in this area. So I have to agree that this is priced with the intention to drive interest and likely a bidding back-and-forth. We shall see what the selling price will be. We just bought a MCM in Jefferson Park with tons of original details. The most anticipated lesson learned is that those houses do require a lot of enthusiasm and they are the opposite of care free. But, for the right people, it is so worth it. Just fabulous.
The highland park home’s aesthetic is beautiful, inside and out. I don’t remember the last time I saw a house that had that kind of look on the exterior. That said, I am in highland park very frequently and seeing what I see, I would not drop that type of money to live there.
The Los Feliz one is in the ideal area, but looks disjointed to me- as though it doesn’t have a good "flow", and it’s too choppy. I think I would be sick of it soon, especially if I want to entertain or host.
The Venice one’s floors make me cringe. Chocolate brown small tile? No. Just, no. I also don’t approve of the target artwork in a million dollar condo.
The map is going to have to be displayed in color no matter what to make it easier to read. Colors are feel good., but they will have to spell out the color as "PURPLE" or "LAVENDER" and not just have a lavender colored line on the map.
I’d even be down for "words or names of people we admire who have done great things. But for the LOVE OF GOD, do not name it after some local politician as the county representatives constantly do on everything that the county builds. Looking at you Hawn, Burke, Antonivich, Yaroslavsky. Please just stop with this naming every park, health center or community center after yourself and colleagues. It’s just shallow. It’s your job to make sure these things are built and you get paid handsomely to do it. You don’t have to be so vane.
In LA, more than 20 percent of homebuyers pay in cash
Not all of the cash purchases were in wealthier areas. Houses in Inglewood, Windsor hills, View Park and the area surrounding had cash purchases. The lower the sale the more you will see the request for Cash only buyers. Everyone knows that most developers are the ones that can use that option so Agents start off with the request. Most agents already have a list of Developers they work with for such sales. The houses on Arlington in South Central are marketed that way. Developers come in buy the house for low. They put the work in and then double the new sale amount.
