Spunky 1920s remodel in Westview declared ‘bodacious’ at $365K
I understand your point, but I was actually referring to more recently gentrified eastside hoods like Edgewood, Reynoldstown, Kirkwood, East Lake, East Atlanta, Ormewood Park, Choosewood, Grant Park, Summerhill, Peoplestown, etc.
Cyclists and pedestrians now have separate paths on 18-mile Lakefront Trail
It will not be finished until they put up guardrails all along Lake Shore Drive to protect path users. It is a frequent occurrence that cars invade the trail, often because some irresponsible driver crashes and the car ends up up the path. This is especially a problem on the south side and it has been documented by local media that the south side is also where police give more tickets for speeding to drivers on Lake Shore Drive. I will not ride my bicycle on those sections of the path which are too close, in my estimation, to the highway we call Lake Shore Drive, making me feel unsafe. I will use a different section of path instead. The Chicago Park District promised to install guardrails and they have not yet done so. Therefore, the project is not complete. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JynFKWL6WcM

This is a pretty cool under-the-radar story … my favorite thing to do in the summer is jump on my bike and hit up the lake path. On weekends the wife and I will do ‘pub’ crawls, stopping at any and all beachfront stops/concession stands we can find that serve alcohol. Then hop back on the bikes to sweat it out. It’s a beautiful thing.

"Developer Silver Creek Development Company presented the preliminary design for the project to a group of West Hollywood locals on December 11… The majority of the community members at the meeting supported the proposal as it is"
This is pure 100% bullshit. I was at that meeting. Silver Creek allowed no public forum. It was just a lame meet and greet, with Silver Creek officials huddling in the corner. You had to go up to them individually to address any concerns, and if you did they more or less waved you off. My neighbors and I all walked away frustrated, agreeing that Silver Creek doesn’t give a damn what the locals think – this was just lip service.
But whatever, there’s no way this will be built "as it is". They will scale it down significantly, and I’m guessing you won’t see any work begin for at least 5 years. Just like Frank Gehry’s big development on Sunset & Crescent Heights, and Gwyneth Paltrow’s "Arts Club" a block away, both of which were announced more than 3 years ago, and still zero progress. And this time you also have the London WeHo Hotel fighting this building. They’ve got a lot more sway with the city than we lowly locals.

"Silver Creek has hired Los Angeles-based architecture firm Morphosis."
Morphosis is actually based in Culver City. A lot of the media, when writing the new Apple location in Culver City, with its 10,000 jobs, made the same mistake.
However, la.curbed has no excuse!
They should reduce the fare of the Silver Line to $1.75 during the entire closure. That way Green line riders heading to DTLA can still commute at the same cost.
