The Surprisingly Innovative Design of New York’s Streeteries
Many/most of the set-ups in the photos are illegal, and if the inspectors are anything like the ones to roll through South Brooklyn (which I imagine they are not, since lower Manhattan has been the main source of restaurants and bars operating illegally during COVID), they will definitely have to be dismantled and rebuilt. The ones in the street have to be at least 18" (to protect you from the above-mentioned cars).
babes… this is America… a "landlord" is 100% a SLAVELORD… as a "rental/mortgage agreement" are literally and purposefully slavery-by-proxy-agreements… our U.S Constitutions 13th Amendment specifically disallows this type of "economic activity"… third party-property-ownership is unconstitutional and creates real acts of state treason if enforcement is attempted…. this is NOT a free market, this is a SLAVEMARKET… the entire "real estate industry/slave industry" needs to be dismantled and all citizens need to be recognized as the rightful owners of their occupied homes, capiche!!!
Steps From Riverside Park, a One-Bedroom With Built-in Bookshelves Asks $615K
Stuffed fowl and the hide of a slaughtered cow on the floor shouldn’t be considered staging in the 21st Century. It ain’t hip or post modern: it’s grotesque and cruel. Grow up, designettes.
Congestion Pricing Delayed As New Car Owners Threaten to Slow New York to a Crawl
While I supported congestion pricing before the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, I do not support it now. Prior to COVID-19, I viewed congestion pricing as a great way to raise revenue for the MTA, reduce carbon emissions by deterring people to take their own cars or Uber/Lyft and reduce gridlock on New York City streets.
While all of those will still be accomplished, the MTA first needs to reduce its out of control spending. The ridiculous overtime costs, outrageous healthcare and pension obligations and union wages are part of the reason the MTA is in a $7 billion budget deficit. The out of control spending was already a problem and now the MTA’s revenue has collapsed due to plunging ridership during COVID-19. If congestion pricing continues as planned before the MTA gets its costs under control, the additional revenue will just continue to go towards the MTA’s wasteful spending.
I do not support a federal bailout of the MTA and believe the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic should be used as a way for the MTA to cut its out of control spending.
New York Needs to Rethink Time, Not Space, To Actually Reopen
only viable solution to this mess is a vaccine. having to schedule your life to that degree would be a major pain in the…. many people would just opt out altogether except for very necessary things rather than going through that much hassle. enjoyable city life just isn’t set up for isolation, distancing etc. you may as well move to the boondocks if you’re going to be living like that. and what fun is the city with closed bars, restaurants, theaters, etc. what’s the point?
Why Doesn’t Anyone Want This Cute Echo Park Bungalow?
calzada’s analysis is spot on. $930 sq. ft. is expensive for Echo Park and that location has become a lot less desirable in the last year. That park went from being a boon to the whole community – particularly families and children who live in nearby apartments and lack green space, and who often held family celebrations in the park – to being taken over by about 50 or so homeless who have trashed the place and made it less safe.
Little Clarity and More Fear for New York City Tenants on The Brink of Eviction
"Simply paying rent is not only unacceptable but it’s also a breach of the lease contract and grounds for eviction."….
babes is yous nows promoting unconstitutional treasonous forced american citizen slavery and police brutality to non-productive slaves?!…
According to your information, that’s exactly what NEEDS to happen, the real estate (slavery) system must fall apart as it’s treasonous and unconstitutional, RENTMUSTNOT BE PAID!!!
Steps From Riverside Park, a One-Bedroom With Built-in Bookshelves Asks $615K
babes… a one bedroom is what a citizen must be able to afford on minimum wage… otherwise wages are irrelevant… at most, this space is worth $1100/month under our current treasonous-3rd-party-contract-slavery-by-proxy-farce-of-a-nation… every "mortgage-maker" is a "slave-maker"… if BLM has any intelligence and real motivation, the movement to destroy statues will move into destroying current-day-slave-owners, the banks, by looting the boardrooms, executive offices and branches, literally!!!
A 19-Year-Old Designed This Mid-Century “Statement Home” For His Parents in 1960
Was wondering the same thing. It looks like a fake patina on the fireplace and kitchen fixtures, that someone in the 90s thought should be echoed in the colors for the floor tile, wall paint, and trim. I much prefer the original kitchen, which did a great job celebrating the wood. On the outside, I would lose the wood fence enclosure for the deck and get rid of the lawn.
Interesting read and well done on the before and after pics Pauline.
