Could Remodeled Apartments Signal Start of Frogtown Boom?
I really don’t know how landlords in L.A. can get away with highway robbery on exorbitant rental rates for crappy properties with no amenities. It should be a law that every apartment in L.A. have air conditioning as a basic requirement. Not to mention most apartments have no dishwasher, no laundry hookups, no ice makers, and no parking.
A Guide to the Near-Future of the Downtown LA Skyline
@surfnspy:
The midrise towers being overlapped in the new South Park cluster will be blocked off by Fig Central and 1200 Fig, so the skyline will not look as dense as the rendering depicts here.
I believe the most recent night rendering of the Wilshire Grand is the one posted on this article. I guess the Korean Air logo on that rendering demonstrates that there will be LED projection on just the crown. There was another rendering on DTLA Rising that shows details of the spire at night. I do hope they post more renderings.

maybe Home Brew is pulling b.s. to of thin air in order to paint a picture that doesn’t exist.
first Home Brew theorizes that a elite "palo alto crowd" is responsible for skewing CA SAT scores so high relative to TXs scores. I provide data which completely disproves his theory, and now Home Brew desperately concocts a totally new theory in an attempt to accommodate my completely antithetical data. All the while, Home Brew offers no data to back himself up.
Home Brew, maybe you should take a position on the Texas education board, since you love TX so much. You share their brand of "intellectualism."Are you a closet creationist? Do you believe humans lived amongst the dinosaurs?
Silver Lake's First Boutique Hotel Allowed Booze and Dancing
Excellent news. There is no place to stay in silverlake unless you air b&b it. A hotel should be allowed to serve alcohol and be a night life destination. They just need to work the parking situation out and the nimbys will shut their trap.
21 Signs That 2014 Was the Year of LA's Rental Apocalypse
I live alone in a great corner 1-bedroom apartment in Hollywood, built like a bunker. Beautiful view and air flow, I can walk to everything including the subway. For a while I lived in another state in a 2-story, 5 bedroom house with a huge yard. Rented a brand new "luxury" apartment in Vegas for almost half what I pay here. The walls were so thin I could hear my neighbor fart. Which to I prefer? Couldn’t wait to come home to LA. Boonies and square states abound with cheap housing. Go already.
Will Boyle Heights Be LA's Gentrification Hot Spot of 2015?
@Neil: Neil: actually, the middle of BH where we live is far from the freeways, high up where there’s good air flow. Way nicer air than downtown. That’s one of the things that attracted us to the area — nice clean breezes. It isn’t the beach, but close to downtown, it’s as good as it gets!
Will Boyle Heights Be LA's Gentrification Hot Spot of 2015?
Several major freeways converge in Boyle Heights. Over 200,000 cars pass through the area everyday. The air quality there is horrible and no amount of gentrification can fix that.

Expensive Housing Driving All the Poor People Out of California
Man a lot of Texas hate, we wish all the Californians and New Yorkers would move back their snark and lumbersexuals are taking up all our sweet free air.
Curbed Cup Final Four: Inglewood (11) vs. Los Feliz (15)
@Ghetto Urchin: Neighborhood of the year is about development/activity this year, not which one is more "desirable". If they did the cup like that Bel-Air, BH, RPV, etc would win every year. Inglewood has had a bunch more stuff than LF this year.
