Harlem Condo Emerges from Bankruptcy With Fresh Price Cuts
@guest #6: Safe and clean ? Which neighborhood do you mean, exactly ?
Harlem is a dump, except some areas in Hamilton Heights that are, unfortunately, surrounded by more dump.
Sadik-Khan's Nefarious Plan to Install Public Art in Meatpacking
@dpworld: She’s a poli sci major with a law degree. If she’s not a lawyer I wonder why she lists "special counsel" to the city on her bio. She’s a bureaucrat with zero technical background and she did her time at PB in the same manner as Sander (a degree in foreign service, what a joke) did his at DMJM Harris — as a glorified lobbyist. At least neither of them will ever want for a lifetime of lucrative consulting gigs.
And I wouldn’t mind having a senator’s wife as a commissioner if she actually knew what she was doing, as opposed to an amateur propped up by a small army of pr flacks.
Deed Sleuthing the Royal Tenenbaums House in Hamilton Heights
The house is currently owned by a dentist. It was part of an open house tour of Hamilton Heights about for years ago and the first two floor were open to the public. It’s nice on the inside as well. The Hamilton Heights association should have more info on it if interested.
Put Down the Mercedes: Beverly Hills Making Way For Bikes
This would be outstanding. Rode my bike during Carmegeddon (although clearly didn’t need to) and it was really wonderful. But the lack of bike lanes made it a bit scary and dangerous to repeat under normal traffic conditions. The more bike friendly we make our Cities – the more will bike. Build it and they will come. Or at least I will.
Behind the Bluestone at Noho Newbie 41 Bond Street
Definitely some beautifully designed elements. But this is not the Steven Harris quality design it would have been had Adam Gordon developed it. Lots of different ideas going on. An odd blend at times. Weird that the living rooms face the back over mediocre housing, regardless of the southern light. The back landscaping does not look very impressive.
@guest #3: Even the headstones don’t share much of a resemblance. Trinity has many more above ground crypts, and certainly many more famous burials (Alexander Hamilton comes to mind).
Either way, will someone at the post-Arak, shoddy-as-shit Curbed editorial office correct the captions to reflect reality?
Design*21's Tatami Mat-Based Tatami Residence in Marina del Rey
Love the wood and concrete — looks very clean and modern. But what is with the inward tilting door/window? Makes me a bit dizzy. Bright, sunny light gives it such a welcoming feel despite the modern build. Corridors a bit too long an narrow, but maybe that is a function of the Tatami Mat. . . Can’t say enough about the wall of glass opening into the courtyard. Just feels nice.
