Enchanting 1930s Spanish Revival in Leimert Park asking $1.2M
Shhhh don’t tell that to anyone here. This forum is filled with people who believe real estate prices will not go down, prior sales are totally irrelevant, and there’s a ton of $1.2m Leimert Park buyers in today’s market.
LA rental prices fall for the first time in a decade
So you are saying prices are going to come down 40% because unemployment goes up due to something unrelated to the housing market? If prices come down even 10% you are going to see people start to buy homes, and park there cash in them. And even if there is 25% unemployment, there is still 75% of people employed including an entire generation of Americans who have been waiting for prices to come down. As I said, prices may decline for a few years, but then they will go up higher than now.
LA’s most beautiful storage building was also a speakeasy
good to see you vokoban, sad the Highland structure was scraped of the ornate Churrigueresque detailing, always assumed they were two chimneys on the roof, but were actually radio towers Warner Brothers theatre on Hollywood Blvd which still remain.
Stylish midcentury post and beam below the Hollywood Sign asks $1.6M
I assume, "With the abundance of information available on the Internet, a potential buyer could not be so naive, as to be surprised by tourist traffic." Or something.
I was aware of the tourist issues, and that the neighborhood was pushing the powers-that-be, to make it more difficult to park without a permit. That was several years ago. I guess I’ll Google, out of curiosity…
I now work often as a location manager for film/TV/commercials/print, so I scout for a living. But never as an adult, have I had my picture taken in front of a landmark of any sort. To "prove" that I was there? To show people who could not give a #$%@ ?
Remember in the 50s – 70s, when it was a joke on TV shows, and in film, that a neighbor would subject friends to vacation pics/slides? Now Facebook has turned millions into bizarre photo pimps. It’s the visual equivalent to torturous "Christmas newsletters."
LA told landlords not to evict tenants. Nearly 200 local groups say that’s not enough.
The government will provide a reasonable amount of protection, but rent forgiveness would constitute an unconstitutional interference with a contract.
BTW, Healthy LA is now calling the homeless encampments "informal settlements". Like when the homeless occupying Echo Park said that they were being "evicted" or the squatters in the CalTrans homes saying they are "reclaiming their homes".
Pair of vintage cottages in Echo Park asking $1.1M
I think they should be able to expect more than $2,800 and $3,200 in rent for this amount of Echo Park charm. Perhaps economic questions are already being cooked into these low estimates….? Those not familiar with the Echo Park vibe might not know that a somewhat rustic World of Interiors vibe is what people want out of an Echo Park home.
currently in escrow on a property in highland park. locked in at 3.5%. first time homebuyers that have been attempting to buy in LA for years. this is not a cheap purchase.
we have less than 24 hours to backout before contingencies are removed and earnest money would be lost and have no idea what to do. concerned the economy will tank while unemployment (and deaths) will continue to skyrocket, and we will be buying at the absolute worst time. also with the stay-in-place mandate, no idea if we could even move? wouldnt inviting movers in to a current and new home be putting my family at risk considering covid-19 can live on surfaces and in air?
