Gosh, I’m not sure— we walked from a friend’s house.
Here’s what I found on the MARTA site:
Avondale Estates is a neighborhood and city east of Decatur that was named after the birth place of William Shakespeare. Popular with families, the neighborhood has a small commercial district with Tudor-style architecture, a variety of restaurants and businesses, and a large park with a lake.
There are two MARTA stations near Avondale Estates: Avondale and Kensington on the blue rail line. The Avondale MARTA station is closer to the downtown area (less than a 15-minute walk away, see map) and the Kensington MARTA station is closer to the park.
To reach either station, connect with a blue line train marked Indian Creek or H.E. Holmes depending on your starting station. If you are traveling from the red or gold line, including from the airport, transfer to an eastbound "Indian Creek" train at the Five Points station.
MARTA bus 8 also travels to the neighborhood from the Avondale MARTA station via North Avondale Road and North Clarendon Road.
Iconic CBS logo at Television City down for repair
I pulled the 2018 landmark nomination prepared by William Pereira expert Alan Hess for the L.A. Conservancy and confirmed that among the "character-defining features" of CBS Television City are "prominent wall-mounted signage at building corners." From the mixed messages given to your reporter, it’s possible that the new owners were not fully aware of their obligations to leave these historic features of the landmark untouched, but it’s good to hear they now plan to replace the signage. It could be cool if they just put William Golden’s 1951 eye logo up, which is how the facade was decorated when new.
David Adjaye’s first NYC tower tops out in the Financial District
130 William Street is beautiful! Its design combines references to the use of masonry from New York City’s earliest days in this part of the city with those unique arched windows. I believe 130 William Street will be successful due to its unique design, height, plenty of natural light, spectacular East River and Brooklyn views and very comprehensive amenities.
The price is very reasonable too given what’s on offer here.
Metro selling merchandise branded with vintage logo designed by Saul Bass
My father William Franks designed the hexagonal RTD logo as a work for hire for Saul Bass. You are correct that Bass was a genius but he had a team of designers for which he takes most of the credit for
Majestic Monrovia Victorian built in 1887 seeks $1.7M
Assuming you’re just trolling, but the official website for Monrovia says you’re incorrect:
‘Idlewild’ built by General William Anderson Pile at 255 N. Mayflower Avenue. According to the Bigoraphical Directory of the U.S. Congress, Pile (1829-1889) was "a Representative from Missouri; born near Indianapolis, Ind., February 11, 1829; completed preparatory studies; studied theology and became a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church and a member of the Missouri conference; during the Civil War entered the Union Army.
For $319K, downtown ‘penthouse’ is an explosion of art, color, wallpaper
To the author, @JoshGreen1234 , as offices (1930-91) it was known as William-Oliver Building, as a condo it is known as The William Oliver. Also, unless the seller is paying for it, "access" to bike storage comes with at least a $20/year charge (no biggie, but fact check). The fitness center is not new, it was remodeled in the same space with some updated equipment.
At least California still has Los Angeles for those who believe in personal freedom but come on Bay Area you used to be a beacon of freedom throughout the world. I find it heartwarming that Ms. Fang understands freedom and is fighting for her rights with Architect William Nicholson standing with her!
