Atlanta-style, mixed-use loft condos debut in mountainous Blue Ridge
I love Blue Ridge. I wouldn’t mind retiring there. It’s a nice little mountain town, with a beautiful lake. Great mountain driving roads up there for those of us who actually enjoy driving sports cars too. If these were 3 bedrooms, I’d be more interested. Price seems a bit high for 2 beds.
Report: To become affordable, LA needs to build duplexes—not just tall towers
It would require a very specific set of circumstances that almost certainly doesn’t exist except for a handful of units in LA, most of which were former multi-plexes that got consolidated into SFRs in the past (I saw a number of these years ago house hunting in the Los Feliz/Silver Lake neighborhoods). And even then the permitting and systems upgrades to bring everything up to code would probably require higher rents to get a decent ROI.
Chicago needs safer streets and protected bike lanes now, advocates say
I do Thats what the 606 is for. You know that project designed to kick working class families out of their neighborhood for whiter richer folks. You also have the Lake Shore bike paths. Use them. Stay off the sidewalks. Ive seen idiots unapologetically nix kids and elderly and have the nerve to complain about them. If I had my way, you would all be required to be licensed, pay registrations and fees like real motorists. That would significantly drop the number of you entitled brats off the roads
Chicago needs safer streets and protected bike lanes now, advocates say
Unfortunately, in reality Chicago is not a very bike friendly city. There is no coherent bike path network, rarely there is great, straightforward connection between the neighborhoods. Bike lanes are often neglected with faded markings and missing bollards. Lack of any enforcement makes the bike lanes convenient place for Uber, Lyft and delivery drivers to park their cars/trucks. Chicago drivers are aggressive, rude and un-attentive. Even on very few protected lines you can’t fully relax and enjoy the ride. In fact the only relaxing path in the city is the Lake Front Path. I strongly believe bike ridership would be up, if the overall experience was one of safety. I know plenty of people that would love to bike, but are too afraid of cars. I wish Chicago leadership was more progressive and aggressive when it comes to biking in the city…
1920s Spanish Colonial with fantastic Art Deco tile asking $1.3M in Glendale
"Boom!…..as of this afternoon it’s contingent with back-up offers being accepted"
Which proves once again that you can never underestimate or second guess this real estate market. Maybe Glendale is now becoming the new Hollywood/Los Feliz/Silver Lake
1920s Spanish Colonial with fantastic Art Deco tile asking $1.3M in Glendale
Don’t let the secret get out about this almost perfect neighborhood—plenty of vintage houses which haven’t been too horribly messed with, walking distance to Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s, no street crime, superior city services and a diverse mix of residents. If you want to go feel cool, Echo Park, Silver Lake, HLP, Atwater are all within 5 miles. There are some absolutely stunning Spanish in the neighborhood but they rarely go on the market, . Yes, the 134 is a bit intrusive, but not nearly as much as it is in the better parts of Eagle Rock.
Developer names condos after cherished cafe it demolished
I liked Cha Cha Cha the few times I ate there. It had a funky vibe and food was descent – very silver lake. the condos seem fine too and frankly who cares what they call them. why do condo buildings need names anyway. you find it based on the address. I think the family is doing just fine with Pinches Tacos. the old Cha Cha Cha was probably past it’s prime anyway.
