Study: Congestion pricing could reduce Westside rush hour travel times by 24 percent
It’s pretty chilly and windy near the beach during the winter, though.
What I’ve seen, people were packed in small rooms, there were no even cubicles. Air conditioning blasted from above, but people still complained that it was uncomfortable compared to personal offices.
Commissioners skewer Amoeba tower’s parking plan—but approve it anyway
There are more hybrids and EV’s I the road than 10xyrs ago and I’m sure the trend will continue, so I’m guessing there will be less tainted air. How do you have the right of way if the Range Rover is trying to beat the light? The walk sign must be red by now. I will 100% agree about many drivers not giving the pedestrian their allowed space to start or finish their crossing. My wife always gets kissed when that happens to us. As long as they don’t hit me I could really care less. Sounds like you belong in downtown city living. We do like to occasionally visit but would hate the noise of density. Weather it’s a car or bus, pedestrians or cyclists, the noise and ‘business’ of density is too much. Fewer people are choosing the bus because of it’s restrictions. And again, I’d rather read at home than on a slow commute to and from work.

I want the freedom to breathe air less tainted by car emissions. I want the freedom to cross the street without triple checking even when I have the right of way because some asshole is gunning their Range Rover to make the light before it turns. I want the freedom to get around more easily without having to rely on hopping in a car. I want the freedom from all the car-related noise pollution, the incessant honking, the road ragers, and everything else. I want more people to have the freedom of the mobility that comes from cheaper housing options, i.e., new buildings without required expensive parking spots.
And none of this prevents you from continuing to hop in your car.
Lawmakers roll out bills to strengthen rent control across California
I’ve met a couple people over the years that have hung onto an apartment from college in a hip neighborhood, pay nothing in rent, don’t even really live there, and use it as an airbnb.
And how is that different from landlords who bought a house for $70k in the 1960’s, moved to Bel Air, and now charge more for rent each month than what they pay in property taxes for the year thanks to Prop. 13? Hm. Maybe that should be means tested too.
Why do landlords get protections against unexpected increases in property taxes on every building they own no matter how many they own but when renters say they want the same protections applied to the roof over their own heads, you guys all call them losers and deadbeats. If you cry this hard about how you can’t handle "increasing costs" than wtf makes you think it’s any easier for them?
I bet you’re the same people who are constantly whining about all the homeless people ruining your nice hilltop view. Hate to break it to ya, but something obviously has to change. The more unaffordable housing gets and the less protections renters have; the more homeless people on the streets.
It’s not just wildflowers—rain brings millions of painted lady butterflies to Southern California
I was on my phone yesterday glancing out my living room window into my backyard here in Valley Glen when I noticed what I thought at first were leaves blowing through the air, but soon realized these "leaves" had wings. I went into my backyard and simply sat in a chair on my patio deck and watched them flutter through by the hundreds for over an hour. The warmth of the sun, the nice breeze, and the flight path of the painted ladies directly across my backyard was a mood enhancer beyond compare. So lovely!
Sublime midcentury modern by Harwell Hamilton Harris asking $1.6M in Silver Lake
This house is just one example of the gorgeous, varied housing stock that dots Silver Lake. Luxurious, distinctive homes such as this are just another reason why Silver Lake is poised to become the Bel Air!
LA councilmember wants to ban scooters from his entire district—including Dodger Stadium
disgusting’s a receptionist at the law offices of larry h. parker, and moonlights as a headhunter for the edd. the scrawny, beta manlet (with a hot air balloon shaped balding head, dumbo style ears) is a true crusader. he really believes the kumbaya, environmentalist, save the world horse shit.
imagine an even bigger fag than you. physicists thought that wouldn’t be possible without violating the laws of the universe, but somehow this mellon headed turd managed to trump even the chunt berri.
1950s time capsule with views asks $1.3M in Hollywoodland
Judging from the air ducts on the ceiling central a/c/heat was added at some point. The duct work must run on top of the house since there’s no attic space. I hope the system isn’t visible from any aesthetic point of view, that would be ugly
Downtown LA temperature hits 70 degrees for the first time since January
Just remember this conversation when the "wild" fires hit this year…..It will be blamed on all the rain we got, but will shut down any discussion regarding Boeing’s Directed Energy weapons, mounted to air ships, visually concealed by all those heavy metals being sprayed daily in our atmosphere.
I live in one of these townhomes in Hollywood and here’s why: each unit has its own 2 car garage, updated and energy efficient appliances, central air/heat, no shared walls (homes are 8 inches apart), roof deck with views of Hollywood that is outfitted for TV and natural gas grill, new plumbing, earthquake code compliant, low HOA fees, no landscaping costs, 10 year structural warranty. They’re a perfect starter home. We now have a child and recently sold our townhome. We’re using the equity from the sale for a down payment on a single family home in Burbank. It’s one of the best investments my family ever made.
