Amazing how low-slung Manhattan was as late as 1967. So many familiar buildings in the West 40s and 50s were built in such a burst of construction. And in Lower Manhattan,the Alexander Hamilton Customs House is still visible from the water, as none of the massive buildings that are now on Water Street existed at that time.
It makes you wonder just how many millions of square feet of development were undertaken from say 1970 to 1985.
