Silver Lake Craftsman, the other Silver Lake contemporary is nice and cheap until you realize it sits right on the freeway. The other choices are too weird or too far away. That TV wall is right out of the Nixon western White House

That’s actually the former home of Jack Webb (who put in the TV wall). I guess it’s mostly untouched from when he moved out in the 70’s:

Wow, that’s really interesting, but I doubt those old TVs still work, so now what do you do, just leave the old dead TVs in the wall?

You can fix them

Hahahahaha… How? Does anyone still make parts for them. Is there a, "Mr. Fixit, TV Repair and Service " in the Valley somewhere?

EXPRESS TV REPAIR in Burbank. Or good old Ebay.
You’re welcome

I bet they work. 1960-70s era transistor televisions are almost indestructible (those aren’t vacuum tube televisions).

Probably all they need are digital>analog antenna converters.

Looks like we complained so much about Long Beach being included in these Curbed: Los Angeles posts that the editors are getting us back by including Riverside instead. Well played Curbed Staff…. well played.

Haha, thanks! In all seriousness, the Riverside listing wasn’t included to punish anyone — it’s just that the pickins get a bit slim around this time of year. And I thought it was a cool house!

This is the 2nd cool Riverside house this week. When you look at the prices you’d think you’ve gone 20 years back in time, then you remember the location…

Seriously, if you had a good job in say Pasadena you’d have it made

I’m just pulling your leg Pauline. It is a nice house along with the featured craftsman from last week.

That Encino house? Why don’t they just say it? It was Jack Webb’s…https://www.estatesales.net/CA/Encino/91316/2349501

Jeebus, looking through those estate sale photos is sad.

OMG, looking at those auction items makes you think that life in that house stopped in 1963

makes you think that life in that house stopped in 1963

What year did he and Julie London get divorced?

Gosh what a mishmash of items. So many, uh, fussy rococo type tchochkes. Forget 1963. More like 1863. No thanks.

I’m not sure when they got divorced, but Webb lived in the house with his subsequent wives until he died in the early 80s, but the house is definitely stuck in the 60s. He was married when he died, so I guess his last wife remained there never changing a thing
