The hilly section of Highland Park that runs up to the Pasadena border is called Garvanza, and that’s where this circa 1940s ranch house sits.

The two-bedroom, one-and-a-half bathroom dwelling sits on a corner lot, and is fronted by a low-maintenance front yard. It only last sold in January for $707,000, but it has changed a lot since then.

The whole house has been updated and has a minimal, contemporary look.

The kitchen, fully renovated, has ample counter space, all new appliances, a farmhouse sink, and a built-in dining area. The living room is bright and spacious with a fireplace. (The chimney was recently repaired.) Hardwood floors run throughout.

Off the den, find a covered deck, a roomy backyard, and a patio with enough space for a fire pit. The house has its own detached, two-car garage too.

The property is listed for $865,000 with Jeffrey Young of Sotheby’s International Realty.

Kind of old suburban, but ok

Kitchen is not fully renovated. Those are old cabinets with inexpensive butch block counters and some new handles – including paint that cost about $1000. Maybe some new floor tile. Typical flipper landscaping. gravel and bark with probably no investment in the irrigation system. What did they spend "fixing up" the house – $15,000. HARD pass.

DITCH THE STAINLESS STEEL TOO. OLD FASHIONED WHITE WOULD BE PERFECT FOR THIS HOUSE.

Curious to know what there aren’t any photos of the inside of that garage. Flippers gonna flip.

Well, maybe there’s no pics because judging by the roof that garage is only 8 inches tall

I really like it.

I love it but for 500K

What? They didn’t (thankfully…) tear down the kitchen wall creating the dreaded open concept?

Few short years from now, homes with original interiors in turn of the century homes will command a fortune.

Amazing this house is listed for $ 865K. They did a decent job with the renovations – it just goes to show what a few add-ons can do to your home’s value. Farmhouse sinks are known to add a 26% premium. It’s no wonder we can hardly keep them in stock https://www.annieandoak.com/collections/fireclay-farmhouse-sinks

I hope the owners get what they are asking for!
