Musicians Lourdes Hernández and Zach Leigh, the couple behind event venue The Ruby Street in Highland Park, are looking to sell a 1920s Mediterranean-style “cottage” that they’ve overhauled over the past two years. Featured in Domino and the Spanish edition of Architectural Digest, the home now sports oak floors in a herringbone pattern, Smeg appliances, recessed lighting and skylights, two colorful bathrooms, and an open concept, while retaining an abundance of original arched windows. On the 7,198-square-foot lot, the duo also added a saltwater pool and fire pit in the front yard, and converted a lower level with a three-quarter bath into guest quarters. The asking price is $1.885 million.

In a more bucolic setting in Benedict Canyon, this updated midcentury modern built in 1958 offers some enviable connections to a verdant backyard, which has a hot tub, covered patio, and hillside views. Inside, the three-bedroom, two-bathroom home has a wood-burning fireplace, original wood paneling, and a kitchen equipped with Viking appliances and a large center island. The home sits on a one-third acre lot and the listing price was recently reduced to $1.795 million.

That Los Feliz one is beautiful, but I don’t like that area for that price; you’re very close to the 5 and while the part of Hyperion is hip, it isn’t quite a mature or walkable as the part of LF closer to Vermont and Hillhurst.

The Calori House was featured here on Curbed back in Sept. https://la.curbed.com/2019/9/16/20869167/lloyd-wright-calori-house-for-sale-glendale

I like it, but there are some good choices today, but I went with Glendale, because you don’t often get the chance to own something historic

lol at everyone wanting the expensive cottage when you could live in a mansion off the expo line for the same price

That mansion looks like it needs a whole lot of upkeep and maintenance which isn’t cheap

LOL. That mansion is the definition of "money pit".

west adams!!! over half an acre, most of us are dreaming anyway so i don’t care if it’s a money pit. that’s a beauty.

I love the ones in Los Feliz and Beverly Hills. Those are my faves.

Beverly Hills PO for me. Great address and location.

I like it as well, that was my 2nd choice

It was a toss-up between Los Feliz and Glendale. Both great choices for the money at today’s rate.

I want to like the Los Feliz house, but those arched windows and painted fireplace really bug me, not to mention the front yard swimming pool
