Making a splash on the market in Los Feliz today is a polished modern that wraps around a central swimming pool. Located near another body of water, the Rowena Reservoir, the U-shaped home was originally built in 1951, but has been thoroughly modernized.

Sited well-back from the street behind a statuesque pair of Star Pine trees, the single-story residence contains four bedrooms and five and a half baths—including two master suites—within 3,402 square feet of living space.

While its interior materials are of recent vintage, the home wholeheartedly embraces the classic midcentury modern principle of indoor-outdoor living, with clerestory windows, skylights, and multiple sets of French doors that open to the central swimming pool or the deluxe dining patio.

On a 10,682-square-foot lot with a three-car garage, 3019 Surry Street is listed with Patricia Ruben of Sotheby’s International Realty for an asking price of $2.398 million. Open house is scheduled for 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Features include hardwood floors, French doors, clerestory windows, and a marble fireplace.
A massive marble-topped island anchors the sunlit kitchen.
The U-shaped home is a testament to the California Modernist ideal of indoor-outdoor living.
The 3,402-square-foot home has four bedrooms, including two master suites.
One of the master bathrooms has been revamped with double sinks, custom cabinetry, and designer light fixtures and wallpaper.
The 10,682-square-foot lot provides for ample outdoor spaces in addition to the pool.

What the hell did they do to this house?

They called up a designer and said "here’s our budget, do what you think some fusty anonymous blowhard on Curbed would be annoyed by," and voila.

This is also why nobody invites you to parties anymore.

I love getting to you. Otherwise you wouldn’t keep responding to my posts.

I GIVE the parties, dear. And I can’t keep them away.

The design is terrible on this home. The updates appear to have been ill-advised in many areas.

Not the blowhard, here.

descent houe. Patty Ruben the listing agent is like nails on a chalk board but despite that she does somehow get business

Good description! One time I went into an open house and she asked where I lived and I told her, and we talked about my neighborhood for a minute, and then we talked about the house but it was obvious she was barely paying attention, which became even more apparent when she asked "where do you live?"

It’d be comical if it wasn’t such a design tragedy.

Nice seams on that interior artificial grass, err, carpet.

Exactly.

Lol, that part of the house is actually outside. I know that the three different floors in the same area might be confusing

Yeah, that is clear.

I love when folks put wallpaper on the outlet covers. It reminds me of my grandmother’s trailer.

10,000+ square foot lot, 3 car garage, on site laundry, and a strip of turf suitable for a putting green…what’s not to like?

Lots.

Oh dear, what ever happened to naked Roman orgy bathroom wallpaper?

I never thought I’d see an MCM house in Los Feliz that I absolutely would NOT want for my very own

Perhaps a shrink can interpret the Rorschach Test artwork in the living to explain the motivation behind some of the design choices

That’s a nice house. I like it. There’s nothing wrong IMO. That pool is the highlight.

Am I the only one who noticed the huge dent on the fridge?

Golf ball.

Probably a clearance item, which is fine for a 400k house, but a 2.4M house deserves better

Train wreck.

That street is nice. It’s right across from Marshal High School.

Never take acid with your architect rule is proven here!

"Now you tell me…"

yukky kaka

I’m glad Jill Clayburgh isn’t alive to see what her daughter thinks is good interior design! Come to think of it she may be buried under that patch of grass!

I had no idea she was Jill Clayburgh’s daughter

what’s with the tacky glass walls surrounding pool? have fun keeping those clean, not to mention shouting over them if your’re in the pool and want to talk to somebody sitting outside the wall.
