Three-bedroom with ‘good bones’ asks $795K in Highland Park

Looking for a fixer in Northeast Los Angeles? This minimal, traditional-style home in Highland Park’s hilly Mount Angelus neighborhood has space and “good bones” to work with, but it needs some TLC.

The kitchen and bathrooms are a bit outdated (fingers crossed the retro green tile is salvageable despite a few cracks and chips), but it sports charming features worth preserving: a little bay window, hardwood floors, a fireplace, and lots of natural light.

Coming in at 1,733 square feet, it holds three bedrooms and two bathrooms, including a “master bedroom suite with [an] oversized walk-in closet and private patio on lower floor.”

Built in 1950, it’s not among LA’s oldest houses, but it is part of the Highland Park-Garvanza historic zone, meaning changes to the property would be subject to historic preservation review.

On the market for the first time since 1988 (when it sold for $95,000), the 5,562-square-foot property is listed for $795,000.

Looks pretty nice for a "fixer", being in a "historic zone" could be a problem

this is false: "meaning any changes to the property would be subject to historic preservation review." as landmark status only applies to the exterior

This house is so hideous and the price is a joke. Its in the ghetto.

Nice bathroom, I still think they could have done more with interior of home, along with landscapeing especially for the price.

It is good to keep in mind that Highland Park is a young person’s neighborhood and while this house might be small and lacking in amenities for a more mature buyer it is likely just what a young person is looking for in a starter home.
