Spanish-style with ‘lots of details to love’ asks $689K in Highland Park

It’s nearly 90 years old, but this Spanish-style home in Highland Park is still easy on the eyes.

Built in 1930, it has been treated to some cosmetic work—but hasn’t lost its charms.

As the listing proclaims, there are “lots of details to love,” and many of them can be found in the living room, which features a floor-to-ceiling decorative fireplace with a black tile trim, coved ceilings, and a picture window. Other noteworthy features include arched entryways, wood floors, and an updated kitchen that flows into an “office or breakfast nook.”

Measuring 1,005 square feet, the home contains two bedrooms and one bathroom, which has been handsomely remodeled with black marble and tile.

Enveloped in native plants, the home sits on a 3,400 square foot lot with room out back for al-fresco dining. But the property, located off York Boulevard and Avenue 53, is also easy walking distance to bars and restaurants.

Last sold in 2013 for $540,000, it’s now on the market for $689,000.

I don’t see "lots of details", but there are a few, it’s ok. A little color on those walls would make all the white trim really pop

Yeah, all that white masks the moldings and ceiling coves. The exterior, however, sports some surprising detail.

The exterior definitely has more Spanish-style character (great curb appeal) than the interior does, but it’s cute nonetheless. Maybe try swapping out the light fixture above the dining table for something bigger and more interesting? Beautiful black marble in the bathroom, but good luck getting to the towels to dry your hands

Ok, so the walls are a soft grey, look close. The house is fabulous. Some bold choices done well. Outside is beautiful, with that tiny patio! Only concern here, not sure I could maneuver the car into the garage, OUCH! But I would try.

Where’s the fridge?

Cute house. Shame about the windows, though.
