City Councilmembers voted unanimously to outlaw new mixed-use projects. They say development is making the South Bay city too crowded and clogged with traffic.
The residence, which includes two connected units built for three generations of a single family, will be built from 14 "up-cycled" shipping containers. Construction should finish up in spring.
Take a look around the almost-comically delayed Shade Hotel, scheduled to open November 18. The hotel has been in the works since 2008, and most recently had to push back its opening because of flood damage.
A proposed $300 million development project would bring new restaurants, retail, and a public market to the area around Redondo Beach Pier. The project, overseen by CenterCal, would redevelop 36 acres of property and improve walking and bike trails.
