Mapping the Most Expensive LA-Area Home Sales of 2016 ... So Far

Libraries, infinity pools, fruit orchards, private beaches

View as Map

We've rounded up the 10 most expensive home sales on the open market in the first half of 2016. Beachfront properties make a good showing, as do the celebrity-favored Bird Streets.

In March, we mapped the most expensive homes for sale, and it looks like many of those pricey properties are still waiting for the right buyers. At the top of that list was the Playboy Mansion. It has found a buyer, but we're still waiting for that sale, reportedly for $105 million, to close. If it does, it would claim the title of Most Expensive Home Ever Sold in Los Angeles County.

There are two other properties worth noting that aren't on this map. One, the $53-million sale of Kelly Wearstler's Beverly Hills estate to fashion designer Tom Ford, was off-market and public records aren't showing the change of ownership yet. The other, the $28-million sale of a Bel Air home owned by Sela Ward to actress/American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez, also doesn't appear to have closed just yet.
