Tech billionaire Larry Ellison (he's the CEO of hardware/software firm Oracle) might be trying to buy up all of Malibu. Don't laugh! The man is so property-hungry that last year he bought 98 percent of the Hawaiian island of Lanai. Here in Southern California, he's spent the last decade "buying up the best spots along Malibu's 21 miles of coast," as the LA Times puts it, and has now racked up "nearly two dozen properties" in the city, spending an estimated $200 to $250 million. He owns at least nine houses on Carbon Beach (aka Billionaire's Beach), and there are only about 70 private houses on the stretch. Neighbors says he's "bought houses, kept them up, leased them out, sold some, redone others and fixed one up for use by his children." One real estate agent claims "The unspoiled nature of Malibu is what he loves," but probably that's just a ruse and in a few years he's going to raze Malibu and build a killer robot factory. Anyway, with the help of our pals at PropertyShark, we've mapped as many of Ellison's Malibu properties as we've been able to pin down. Enjoy.
