There’s something whimsical about finding a fairy flying over a baseball game or a monkey jumping on a couch next to Vincent van Gogh’s "Irises," but if it’s not posted on social media, did it really happen? From Dodger Stadium to the Getty Museum, we're seeing many of L.A.’s popular landmarks featured in photos taken by Pokémon Go players out catching wild Pokemon.

It turns out that these landmarks are some of the best and most beautiful places to catch Pokémon (Pikachu has, for example, been spotted at Griffith Park), which means you have another excuse to get out and explore the iconic spots for which LA is best-known. Or, if you're tired of seeing groups of people glued to their phones, consider this a quick guide of spots to avoid during this full-blown Pokémon craze.

Dodger Stadium

How fitting— Pokémon are hanging out among flamingoes and other fellow wild things. The LA Zoo counted more than 30 Poké Stops and at least 3 gyms on its grounds. It may be one of the most Pokémon-friendly destinations in the area.

Arrive early or spend intermission hunting for Pokémon. It's the polite thing to do for fellow non-playing theater-goers Players are finding them in the main lobby and in seats.

Santa Monica State Beach

At the beach, expect to find water-type Pokémon, but other types will appear as well. Electabuzz, Dratini and Squirtle are out there.

Aquarium of The Pacific

It's a constant Pokémon party on weekends judging by the amount of lures players displayed on the map. There’s a gym on-site and lots of Poké Stops.

Hollywood Walk of Fame

If you’re willing to elbow for sidewalk space among the summer throng of tourists in Hollywood and you’ll be rewarded with Pokémon sightings along the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

La Brea Tar Pits

We hear there are lots of Pokémon in the area of the La Brea Tar Pits. You’ll find Manchoke, Ryhorn, Omanyte and Ponyta. Also expect to find lots of Charmanders.

Descanso Gardens

Jynx and Golbat are among the Pokémon that are spotted in the gardens. It’s also a prime spot for Poké Stops.

Universal CityWalk

When Universal CityWalk hosted Ecto-1, a Caterpie was spotted in its grill. Apparently the Pokémon are swarming this destination and you can find Pokémon Go playing tips on the CityWalkLA snapchat account.

The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens

Spearow, Diglet, Cubone, Ekans and Tangela are documented at The Huntington. Just remember to stay on paths if you’re trying to catch them in the gardens.

J. Paul Getty Museum

With plenty of Poké Stops and multiple gyms it’s no surprise that Pokémon are aplenty here.

Pokémon go to College! Sightings include Meowth, Raichu, Growlithe, Hitmonchan and Venonat.

Speaking of Griffith Park— it’s a pretty obvious Pokémon hotspot. Some notable Pokémon sightings includes an Ivysaur near The Trails Cafe and and Oddish on the walking trail around Harding Municipal Golf Course.

William Mulholland Memorial Fountain

Across the street from the Riverside Dr.and Los Feliz Blvd. entrance of Griffith Park, this fountain is visited by Pokémon players on the regular. Several Poké Stops clustered together and a gym make it an ideal spot to play. Chancey and Jigglypuff have been found in the vicinity.
