Following this past weekend’s opening of the foothill extension, Metro's Gold Line is now more than 30 miles long and a good portion follows the base of the San Gabriel Mountains. In 2014, President Obama designated a chunk of the range as a national monument, intensifying he conversation about bringing the people to the mountains via public transit; solutions are being worked on and growth of the Gold Line can only help advocates’ case. In the meantime, several trails along the Arroyo Seco and in the foothills are accessible now, some by walking, others via a short bus connection, bike ride, or a ride-hailwith Uber/Lyft or a taxi (tip them for the short rides!).
