The best response to East Coasters who think Los Angeles is ugly is this: "Mad Men." The show might take place in sexy mid-century New York, but it's shot almost entirely in sexy present day Los Angeles (it won an award from the LA Conservancy for the attention it pays to our mid-centuriana).
