The hotel and residential project would rise next to a future Purple Line station

A Miracle Mile mixed-use development at La Brea Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard has undergone a few changes since we saw it last, not least of which is the addition of a hotel.

Planning documents show that the building, once proposed as a 12-story structure, will now rise just 8 stories. Instead of apartments and a food hall, the project will now hold 121 condos and 125 hotel rooms. Hotel rooms would take up the south side of the building, which is closer to an under-construction Purple Line station on Wilshire; the condos would be toward the north end of the building.

The project’s top floor would hold two separate pools, one for residents and another for hotel guests.

Along the street, roughly 13,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space would be occupied by two restaurants—one attached to the hotel side and the other attached to the residential side of the development. The mixed-use structure is designed by Morris Adjmi Architects.

The new-build project would replace a row of storefronts that until recently included a Mood Fabrics.

As before, the applicant listed on the filing is Gidi Cohen and La Brea Bliss LLC. Cohen is the founder of CGI Strategies, the owner of Hollywood’s historic Villa Carlotta apartments.

The hotel and condo project would be across the street from the popular French restaurant Republique. It would sit just north of the entrance to the Purple Line extension’s Wilshire/LaBrea station, which should be open by 2023.
