Netflix ready to expand in Hollywood as construction wraps on high-rise named... Epic

Construction is finished on a 13-story building on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood named Epic, says the developer, Hudson Pacific Properties. The real estate company is ready to hand the baton to its tenant, Netflix.

Epic features numerous exterior terraces, fire pits, and a rooftop deck. The building is also equipped with “solar energy-generating technology” on its facade, allowing it to use its walls to capture and convert sunlight into electricity, says a rep for Hudson.

Netflix is expected to begin working on the Gensler-designed building’s interiors “soon.” The streaming media giant plans to move into the building in phases, starting early next year.

“Epic is part of our continuing investment in LA and Hollywood,” Netflix’s chief financial officer David Wells said last year, when the Epic deal was announced. “We’re thrilled to be able to continue to grow our team there.”

It is indeed growing. The company already rents the whole 14-story Icon tower and almost 92,000 square in the five-story office building Cue, both of which are located at the Sunset Bronson lot, right across the street from Epic. Last year, Netflix extended its leases at both buildings for five more years.

Netflix also has leases at the historic Musicians Union, which it officially secured earlier this year, and over 300,000 square feet at the Academy on Vine, which is rising behind the Hollywood Arclight.
