Development is in the works for another park-adjacent parcel near the Metro’s Gold Line station in Chinatown. An LLC submitted plans on Thursday to the city to build 243 live/work units on a property on North Main and Sotello streets, a block away from Los Angeles State Historic Park.
The project applicant is listed as an LLC called 1457 Main Property (that’s also the address for the development). The property owner on record is another LLC, festively named Mango Town, which has links to a produce company in Oxnard.
The development site is currently in use as a produce distribution center.
The blocks on the southern side of the Chinatown park have seen a flurry of activity in the last couple of years.
Closer to the Los Angeles River, a cluster of warehouses has been transformed into a little nightlife hub, with the first LA restaurant from David Chang and a cocktail bar from New York opening within the last year and a location of a Brooklyn music venue called Baby’s All Right still in the works.
