This house is bananas

Massive black and white paintings hang in a large foyer. The geometric pattern of the paintings is mimicked in the inlaid marble on the floor.

Southern California ska singer turned worldwide pop phenomenon Gwen Stefani and British grunge rocker Gavin Rossdale were just two different people. After their divorce was finalized in 2016, they put their expansive home off Mulholland Drive up for sale, asking $35 million.

All they needed was a little bit of time. The contemporary compound finally closed escrow today—for $21.65 million. The buyer was not disclosed, and property records were not immediately updated.

The ex-couple purchased the two-acre spread just east of Franklin Canyon in 2006, paying $13.25 million, then hired designer Kelly Wearstler to put a bold and colorful touch on the interiors. Once owned by Jennifer Lopez, the home offers up mountain views and comes with a 15,000-square-foot gym, tennis courts, and a “luscious soccer field of flat green grass.”

Located in a guard-gated community in Studio City, the property comes with a 90210 zip code (and monthly HOA dues of $1,296). Coldwell Banker Global Luxury agent Jade Mills and The Agency’s Craig Knizek represented the sellers; Jonathan Nash and Stephen Resnick, with Hilton and Hyland, represented the buyer.

The exterior of a sprawling, low-slung white house with a dark gray roof front by a massive green lawn and sleek swimming pool.
White and red curtain in a swirling pattern hang over huge windows that look out over a large green lawn with views out to the mountains. The room is furnished with white leather couches and black and gold tables.

Expansive windows provide some epic Valley views.
