This Eagle Rock home was built in 1924, but it might appeal to a midcentury modern enthusiast. Traditional on the outside, the interiors are surprisingly simple, bright, and open—and they offer inviting connections to the 7,625-square-foot property’s outdoor spaces.

On the main level, you’ll find two bedrooms and original 1920 stylings: hardwood floors, an arched entry, and handsome dining room built-ins. French Doors open to a patio with verdant treetop views.

Per the listing, Los Angeles-based XTen Architecture designed a contemporary lower level master suite with an abundance of windows. It holds a bathroom with a “spa shower and soaking tub” and a spacious and “versatile” laundry room that could also be used as an office (if you don’t mind the hum of a washer and dryer).

The suite opens to a backyard populated with drought-tolerant plants and space for plenty more garden beds.

Last sold in 1998 for $210,000, the property is on the market again for the first time in 20 years. The price? $1.089 million.
