Downtown’s hotel pool is already building rapidly, but let’s add another one on the pile. Developers submitted plans to the city yesterday to build a 15-story hotel on what’s now a low-rise studio and a parking lot at Broadway near 11th Street.
The planning department filing lists United Broadway, LLC as the applicant, but preliminary materials submitted to the planning department list Blue Arch Investments and the hotel brand HyattCentric.
HyattCentric is advertised as providing “lifestyle hotels at the center of their destination,” and already has locations in Long Beach, Santa Barbara, and at San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf.
There’s a lot happening on this segment of Broadway. The luxury Proper Hotel is under construction here now, in what once was a YMCA. The Herald Examiner building is being renovated and will reopen as creative office space with shops and restaurants, including one by the owners of République.
