Five months after acquiring Pasadena’s spectacular Cravens Estate, musician Michael Feinstein and his husband Terrence Flannery have put their longtime residence in Los Feliz on the market, with an asking price of $26 million.

Situated on a half-acre lot just below Griffith Observatory, the English Tudor Revival was designed in 1926 by Harold S. Johnson, architect of Pasadena’s Trinity Lutheran Church and Metropolitan High School in Downtown.

Between 1935 and 1951, the house served as a Russian Consulate. In 1998, it was purchased for $2.1 million by Feinstein and Flannery, who got married on the property in 2008 in a ceremony officiated by Judge Judy Sheindlin that featured performances by Liza Minnelli and Barry Manilow.

The Roaring ’20s residence measures 15,391 square feet (about 5,000 square feet less than the Cravens Estate), and has six en suite bedrooms, including a massive master that, per the listing, occupies “nearly half of the home’s private level.”

There’s also a movie theater, fitness room, wine cellar, recording studio, and music room. Notable architectural features include a double-height entry gallery, coffered ceilings, wood-paneled walls, elaborate moldings, and multiple fireplaces with intricately carved mantels.

Along with a French formal garden, the gated estate’s grounds contain a scalloped swimming pool “framed by citrus trees and city views,” and a spacious guest house.

Should the property fetch its $26 million asking price, it will break the neighborhood record sale price set a year ago by Angelina Jolie’s $24.5 million purchase of the former Cecil B. De Mille estate.
