Located in lower Nichols Canyon a couple blocks west of Wattles Mansion, this 1920s Mediterranean was once the home of Alma Kruger, a character actress who specialized in playing matronly types in films such as His Girl Friday and Saboteur. Kruger’s former residence, however, is anything but matronly.

Now owned by Big Bang Theory writer/producer Dave Goetsch, property records show, the three-bedroom home has undergone a stylish makeover by Just Joh, the husband-and-wife architecture-interiors team whose projects include the Hacienda Palancar in Tulum and Richard Branson’s Necker Island resort.

Hidden behind gates, the 2,751-square-foot villa’s updates include a high-end kitchen with hand-stenciled floors and luxurious new bathrooms kitted out with Moroccan flair. Other interior features include peg and groove floors, a Batchelder fireplace, French doors, a turreted dining room, a sunroom with beamed ceilings, and a lower level lounge with built-in furniture.

Heightening the home’s boutique-resort feel are an inviting saltwater pool and bougainvillea-draped veranda.

Last sold in 2001 for $1.02 million, the property is now listed with an asking price of $2.199 million. But if you like it, you better put a ring on it—offers are due by noon Friday.
