Start planning your staycation: Check-in at the Godfrey Hotel Hollywood is set to begin in spring 2019, the developer announced yesterday.

“The Godfrey Hotel Hollywood will complement an already vibrant neighborhood,” says Sarang Peruri, principal at Oxford Capital Group and Oxford Hotels and Resorts, citing the property’s proximity to the ArcLight theaters and Amoeba Music. (Though Amoeba may not be there much longer.)

The 220-room hotel sits on Cahuenga Boulevard and DeLongpre Avenue—about a block south of Sunset Boulevard. Like most new hotels planned in the area, the Godfrey will also have a rooftop bar and pool and a restaurant—the second location of a “casual steakhouse” called About Last Knife. The eight-story hotel is designed by Steinberg Hart.

The Godfrey is going up amid a hub of development. Within a block-and-a-half radius, there are three big and tall projects planned or in progress.

Kitty-corner to the hotel, at Delongpre and Ivar, work is underway now on Academy on Vine, a $450 million, block-sized project with office space, retail, and 200 residential units in a 20-story tower.

The Amoeba Music store on Sunset and Cahuenga may not be long for this world. A developer who owns the lot has plans to put a 28-story residential tower on the site, with demolition starting as early as 2019. The music mecca is hunting for its next home.

Just across Cahuenga, a huge 369-unit residential complex is under construction. Called Rise Hollywood, the project is expected to be complete in 2019.
