Inside West Hollywood’s The Jeremy hotel, where rooms start at $350 a night

The Sunset Strip’s Sunset|La Cienega development has seen some major shake-ups recently, including a sudden change to the hotel roster in June, when it was established that the long-awaited James hotel would not open and that a temporary inn called The Jeremy West Hollywood would occupy the space instead.

The switch came as the hotel traded ownership, becoming property of Starwood Capital Group instead of CIM Group, which owns the Sunset|La Cienega complex.

The Jeremy opened last month, and we’re getting a good look at the interiors now, thanks to photos from the hotel. The sleek and minimal public spaces prepare guests for their similarly elegant rooms, which feature desert neutrals and wood floors. The 286-room hotel features a classy bar, a cafe, and a pool deck.

In another twist, The Jeremy West Hollywood is only expected to be open for about a year, as the hotel space is transformed into a 1 hotel, a newish eco-friendly luxury brand that has outposts in Miami and Brooklyn. (An opening date for the 1 West Hollywood hasn’t been announced.)

The temporary hotel is a smart financial move, WeHoville noted in July. The interim hotel will allow the property to generate revenue for what’s likely a pricey overhaul of the space, and it will also produce hotel room occupancy taxes for West Hollywood.
