Construction getting started on Hollywood’s new 13-story tower

Called EPIC, it’ll rise across from ICON

Construction is ready to get underway on the latest glassy office tower on its way to Hollywood.

Urbanize LA reports that crews are prepping the site at the northwest corner of Sunset Boulevard and Bronson Avenue, where EPIC, a 13-story building, is set to rise.

Developer Hudson Pacific Properties also owns the historic Sunset Bronson Studios building across the street and the recently completed ICON Tower next to that structure.

Like ICON, EPIC is designed by Gensler and will rise 13 stories. Initially, plans called for the structure to have 18 floors, but neighbors complained about the height and it was reduced to 15 and then again to 13.

Once complete, the development will bring about 280,000 square feet of new office space to the area, along with 18,400 square feet of retail space on the ground level.

According to a brochure from the developer, the building will include a host of trendy amenities for employees, including a fitness center, outdoor terraces with fire pits, and “landing pads” for drones.

Hudson Pacific initially planned to have the project complete by this year, but lawsuits and other hurdles have slowed down that timeline. Plans on file with the city show the building will take about 27 months to build.
